How does Moneydance download transactions from my bank?

Moneydance supports automatic downloads to many banks and financial institutions using a connection called "OFX Direct Connect".

Moneydance uses this direct OFX connection to communicate securely across the Internet with properly equipped institutions.

You can download information through Direct Connect into a bank, credit card, and investment account if your bank supports this service.

Using Direct Connect allows Moneydance to connect to a server at your bank (instead of their site) and usually requires different login credentials than you would use to log into your bank's website.

Does my bank support Direct Connect?

On the following page, you can view a list of financial institutions that we have already established a connection with - https://infinitekind.com/fi

If your bank is listed, you can set up Direct Connect to use automatic downloads.
You can follow the steps in this article to connect with your bank from within Moneydance.

If your bank is not listed, you should can still easily import your transactions into Moneydance. You can use a web browser to download files from your bank's website.
This is detailed further in this article.

If your financial institution has advised they support Direct Connect, but they are not shown on the supported list, please contact us. If your bank does support Direct Connect, we'll be happy to assist in setting up a connection with them. You can email support@infinitekind.com or create a new support ticket here

It's important to note that there are other connection methods called Web Connect and Express Web Connect. If your bank only supports these connection methods and does not support Direct Connect, you'll be unable to download your data automatically. You can read about the other connection methods here and on our blog.
