If your bank does not support automatic downloads using Direct Connect, you can still easily import your data into the program. You can use a web browser to download transactions from your bank's website.

Downloading transactions -

To download transactions, open a web browser and visit your bank's website. Then log in and look for a download option.

Unfortunately, we can't advise where you'll find the download option as each bank's website is different. If you're struggling to find the download feature, we recommend contacting your bank as they should be able to advise exactly how you can download from their site.

We recommend you download your transactions as QFX or OFX files.

If these formats aren't available, you can download QIF files instead.

These files are sometimes referred to as Quicken or MS Money files.

CSV files can also be imported, but the import process is slightly more involved. Importing CSV files is outlined in this article.

Importing transactions -

After downloading a file from your bank's website, many web browsers will automatically ask which program you want to use to open the downloaded file. If your web browser prompts you in this manner select “Moneydance”.

If your browser does not offer this option, save the file on your computer.

Open Moneydance, select File > Import, then navigate to and select the file.

Alternatively, you can open Moneydance and drag the downloaded file into the Moneydance program window.

The “Import file” window will appear. From here the process differs depending on what type of file you are importing - QIF or OFX and QFX files.

Importing OFX and QFX files -

Your account number will be displayed, and below this you can choose which account you'd like to import the data into.

Moneydance will attempt to match the imported account with your existing accounts. If you choose "Remember this Choice" Moneydance should identify the correct account and import automatically in subsequent imports.

Importing QIF files -

You'll see a list of your accounts and you can choose which account you want to import the transactions into.

At the bottom of the window, the program will try to determine which date format and decimal character have been used within the file.

The date format may not always be the format you'd expect. If you want to check which date format has been used, open the QIF file with a text program like TextEdit or NotePad to view the file contents.

Using the (beta) Internal Browser -

Select your account and choose Account > Edit Account. Enter your bank's website URL in the "Website" field.

When viewing the account, choose "Download" at the top left of the account register. This will open your bank's website in the internal browser window where you can download your transactions.

This is still a beta feature, so if you're having trouble accessing your bank's site let us know by emailing support@infinitekind.com or by creating a new support ticket here.
