How should I handle update errors (Moneydance on Windows)?
There is a known problem which exists when trying to
automatically update Moneydance on Windows (esp. Vista). It is
related to the way Windows handles file permissions.
This is the corresponding java error message:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Program Files (x86)\Moneydance\.\moneydance.jar (Access is denied)
...
Sometimes logging in as administrator allows the update to
complete. This does not work for all users.
Currently, we do not have a fix.
However you can manually download the latest stable version from
this link:
Download latest stable
build, MD2008, MD2006
And if you want it, the latest preview release from this
link:
Preview builds, MD2008
new download
link
Preview
builds, MD2010
Important note
Upgrading from MD2008 or previous versions to MD2010 is not a free
update in all cases and may require you to buy a new/update
license.
