Download Home Equity
I have MD 2010r3 and can't download transactions into my Equity LOC. I set it up a while ago and made it a liabilty account. Reportedly this was a bug that was supposed to be rectified in ver2010.
Do I need to recreate this account to be able to download xactions?

Downloading transactions from a finanacial institution depends on the account type that your financial institution is reporting with the OFX header.
HELOC is most often reported as a credit card type. And that almost always is the correct type to use with Moneydance.
Let us know if that doesn't work.

Wow - did I get screwed.
I changed the account properties from L to C and Moneydance recategorized
hundreds of transactions to 0000. I know this because if I go back to
earlier saves, everything is categorized properly.
Unfortunately, I didn't catch this right away and continued to reconcile
some accounts. So I am in some kind of limbo state and may have to go
back to an earlier save and redo a weeks worth of reconciling (my fault
since I hadn't done it in a while so it takes extra time) or try and fix
the problems which will take about another week or so,
You need to be more careful with the instructions you give out.

I am sorry. I have now removed the FAQ article that describes how to change an account s type by modifying the XML. It is all too easy to break the integrity of the file when editing t by hand.
I am afraid that if the file has become corrupted by modifying the XML and you doen't have a backup it is not possible to revert to the earlier state.
I am sorry for the inconvenience and loss of data,
Sincerely
Ben Spencer
