Exporting .txf file for Turbo Tax
Are there plans to get this feature working better so that you could export your data and import directly to Turbo Tax? Also Does the TXF Exporter Extension work with MD 2010 and is it still available for download?

Hi TJ
The extension does work with MD2010 and can be downloaded from the link below:
http://moneydance.com/preview/
We do recognize this is an important feature and we do intend to improve it and we don't currently have a time line. It is not a feature that has received much support from our users and I am afraid has been on the back burner for quite a while.
Sincerely
Ben Spencer

Thanks Ben. I did download the extension and will try it out. Although
probably not a popular request it does seem important to have that
capability in a money finance program. Hopefully it will make it into the
updates for MD 2010 or the next release of MD.
MD is a program that I think has the possibility to become more widely used
than the only other viable commercial alternative.
Thanks,
TJ

TJ,
I agree that this is an important feature, and I have created a ticket for this issue. The ticket is attached to this discussion. By posting in this discussion your interest in the ticket has been registered. This is equivalent to voting for it.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

I am just considering the purchase of this program and that (compatibility with TurboTax) is a primary concern. thanks, MK

Ditto here. I really need that ability.

I've used Quicken/Mac and Turbotax/Mac for many years...am looking to replace Quicken now that Apple is retiring Rosetta. The most important feature for me is the ability to create a .txf file so I can import a year's worth of tax-relevant transactions into Turbotax with one click. Your program gets so many great reviews, I would love to see you add this deal-breaker feature. We all file taxes! Thanks.

Have you tried the beta TXF export extension
http://moneydance.com/preview/
The link is on the right Beta Extensions.

PLEASE tell me that with Moneydance I will be able to create an exportable file for import into Turbo Tax! I have been using MacInTax since before some of you were born and Quicken since it's inception primarily for bill pay, tracking IRS items and exporting into TurboTax. I Am SOOOOOO Angry at Intuit for abandoning Mac users!!!!

We do have an extension which allows users to export data at .txf files, which can then be imported into tax preparation software. That said, the TXF Export extension interface is sub-par. The extension is in beta and has not been worked on for for a while due to lack of interest by users. We advise people to use this application at their own risk.
Here are some tips if you would like to use this extension. By default when the extension is installed there are already a number of mappings created. Clicking on one of the items in the left hand list will show the item it is mapped to in the right hand list. If you click in the right hand column you can change which item it is mapped to. There should only be one item selected on the left and the right at any one time. Do not use ctrl click to select more than one item at a time.
You can download the TXF Export extension file here. Once the file is downloaded you can install it by selecting the Extensions->Add menu, choosing the "From a File" option, and selecting the downloaded file. Please keep in mind that this is beta software, and therefore may contain bugs and cause problems.

Ben,
Is there any development that will happen with this extension. I hope it will be seriously considered. As Jeff states in a previous post, We All do Taxes!
Thanks,
TJ

I am afraid there have not been any new developments on the extension in quite a while. I have forwarded this thread to the developers asking the to consider prioritising it.

Hello Ben,
Thanks for your follow-up! Whomever recognizes and answers the plight of the many Mac users who have been such loyal Quicken users all these years will certainly step into a gold mine of customers.

+1 on improving the tax export or even integration. Soon you are going to have to stop citing "lack of interest by users"....

Please do proceed with this improvement/feature. I'm hanging on to Quicken 2007 and have not yet upgraded to Lion OS in hopes that MD will come through for all of us who do taxes with Turbo.

We're trying to get to a Mac-based software package and we depend on the interface to tax software in Quicken. I can't risk switching into a package that doesn't have a dependable interface to some recognized tax software package. MD looks like our first choice, but only when that interface is present and working.
Please give this some attention.

Please add my vote for added work on this extension. I just installed the preview version from the above link provided by Ben into 2011r2 (803). I did a proper setup and it only created a zero byte file. I am testing the trial version now as a replacement for Quicken and so far I like what I see (although your investment home page presentation needs work).
Thanks.

Please, please... somebody needs to create a robust personal finance software package for Mac users that allows then to export data into .txf files! I am like so many others already commenting in this thread: been using Quicken/Turbotax for years, and I'm stuck in Quicken 2006/7 with an old Mac operating system because of lack of a viable alternative to this problem!
I also agree that there's a lot more Mac users out there with the same desire, who are dying for a solution to this problem.
Thanks

Ditto on everything that previous posters have said. TXF export is absolutely critical for me. I'm looking to replace Quicken for the same reasons everyone has mentioned and after some evaluation, I've narrowed my choice to either Moneydance or iBank. I'll try the extension to see if it works well. If it does, I'll choose Moneydance. If it doesn't, I'll have to choose iBank since it has built-in TXF export.

Did anyone else get the email/announcement from Quicken that they are turning a full featured, lion compliant version of Quicken in early 2012? Hope it comes out before taxes are due.

I also support the development of a quality txf export function. I switched from Quicken to Moneydance about 5 years ago and have missed this function dearly. MD is a great program and having a txf export function will make it that much better.

Like others on this thread I would greatly like to move off Quicken to something supported on a Mac. One of the three deal making/breaking features is the ability to export to TurboTax (which works quite well on the Mac unlike Quicken). I only do it once a year, but it is half the reason I bother with an electronic checkbook. In every other respect Moneydance looks perfect to me. Let me know when export to TurboTax is built in (note: no lame beta/partially working add-on).

Meeee too! I'm seriously considering Moneydance primarily because of the ipad app, which Quicken doesn't have, but ability to easily import to TurboTax is a total dealbreaker for me! Please, PLEASE create a fully-developed Turbotax export!

I have been considering purchase of a money management software program with Money Dance under strong consideration due to the many positive reviews. However efficient export of data to TurboTax is crucial. Has this feature been included in the Money Dance software as of yet?
