Duplication of Accounts

Each time I download the latest transactions from my bank, Moneydance creates a new empty duplicate account for the download. I then have to make sure I select the old file to import the data into, and not the new one. Is there a way to stop the duplicate account creation?

Thanks,
Bob

Can you tell me what method you are using to download transactions? It sounds like you might be downloading a QIF file from your banks web site. If this is the case make sure that the "Import To:" option on the QIF import window is set to "Existing Account" and that you are specifying which account you want to import into.

If your bank offers OFX files to download instead of QIF I highly recommend you use these instead. They are far superior to QIF. Some banks call OFX files MS Money files.

I was using the QIF import option from my bank. I tried the MS Money file option and it worked as you described above. Moneydance support is the best. Thanks for your quick response.
