I am also looking for something usable in the UK and Europe - please can you advise what MoneyDance does/not support in these areas.
When I clicked the link for International Support, the page displayed a list of banks, which all seem to be US based - is the link broken?
Thanks,
Iain

It is possible to set the local option in Moneydance to apply British spellings. To do this select File->Preference and on the General tab set the "Local" option to "English (UK)"
It is also possible to set the base currency to British Pounds. To do this select Tools->"Currencies/Exchange Rates". Select "British Pound" and click the "Set base currency" option.
Unfortunately there are currently no British banks that have OFX (Open Financial Exchange) servers. OFX is the protocol Moneydance and other personal finance software uses to directly connect to a bank and download transactions. However many UK banks allow OFX files that can be manually downloaded from their website. These can then be imported into Moneydance. Select File->Import->OFX. To import such a file.
Another limitation of Moneydance in the UK is that Moneydance uses the finance.yahoo.com service for security price information. This service is rather USA centric and as such does not offer security price information for all foreign ticker symbols. It does offer price information on most securities traded on the London Stock Exchange. Add a .L suffix to your ticker symbol to tell the service that you want price information from the LSE. e.g. RBS becomes RBS.L
We are however working on a new version of the security price downloader that can directly download prices from finance.yahoo.co.uk. We hope to have it ready by the end of the month.
I recommend downloading the trial version of the software from (here)[http://moneydance.com/other] to verify that it meets your needs before purchasing.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.

Any update on the new version of the security downloader for .co.uk ? I note that you stated the "We hope to have it ready by the end of the month (July)."
As a new UK user who is about to purchase, this would be a major incentive and improvement to a really nice piece of software !
thanks

Guys
I was a user of Quicken in the UK since the mid nineties. Usual story, no support after 2004 so I have been looking for an alternative for a few years. I had a bit of time this summer so checked out what was available and settled on MD. It imported Quicken accounts with no problems and I intended to run in parallel for a couple of months. After three days I dropped Quicken. MD is a bit more menu driven as against buttons/icons but has worked perfectly since install. The Investment (Stock) price update is not as good as the system they seem to have in the States and we cannot connect direct to our bank accounts but the UK Yahoo price updater works seamlessly in the background (including ISA Funds etc) and importing Bank and credit card account updates via OFX works well.
Go for it because if you have any problems (as I had with my Linux Ubuntu install) the help team are very good.

Neville

I wasn't aware MD was able to download UK fund prices yet. How do you this ? I've entered the fund GB symbol into the Ticker Symbol field but no prices are downloading.
No problem getting a UK stock price to download by adding .L to the Ticker Code, but what about OEICs and UTs ??
thanks

Kevin
Are you using the special downloader extension for the UK 'yahooqtbeta4.mxt' , it is a little package provided by one of the developers for MD but I do not think it is officially supported by MD. You have to download (may be a zip file) then save on your system. Then use the Extension; Add; From File in MD and it will install to your machine.
You may have to search for the right code via Yahoo finance (UK) , i.e.
Invesco Perpetual Corporate Bond fund is GB0033028779. the update then works automatically downloading the price for the fund. Please note that Yahoo UK prices for funds are delayed i.e. today (Sat) it has downloaded the price for 4th Aug.
I am sure the file is linked somewhere on the Forum/help pages but if not I could email you a copy.
Just found the link: http://www.mennesoft.com/yahooqt/ I am using beta4

Neville,
Thanks, that was a great help. Took a bit of effort to find the right fund codes on yahoo uk but now all working well. I presume this will not work in tandem with MDs Quote Auto Synchroniser and I'll just have to remember to run it manually ?
Also noted that prices are rounded to 2dps once converted to pence, but I can;t complain - gotta be better than manually collecting and inputting prices !
Be great for us in the UK once this is finalised and we get price history.
thanks again,
Kevin S

I am using Microsoft Money using Windows 7. If I switch to Moneydance can I also integrate this with my iPad that is synced with Windows 7.
Thanks John Howell from Kent England

Kevin
A couple of further points I noticed after I sent the previous comment.
The Yahoo UK updater should show as 'Yahoo(r) Finance Synchroniser in Extensions and re the decimal places issue, are you downloading the fund price as pence (I am) in the Synchroniser under heading Stock Exchange? The choice is pence or GBP. Also the updater page also shows only two decimal places but as I mentioned it is recorded as four decimals in the security.

Guys
In case you are confused my earlier message in response to Kevin's message today, seems to have disappeared (must be getting senile).
If I can recall what I said :-(
the decimals are only two places on the updater page but four places on the security page
and the updater works everytime I open MD automatically.
Hope this doesn't confuse anyone.

Neville,
There is an (R) next to Yahoo in the updater, and I've now checked the security price and delighted to see its is to 3 or 4 dps, thanks.
