Transaction Tags
I just downloaded the MD 2010 trial. When creating a new "Tag" via the Tools/Edit transaction tags menu, a popup window appears. I hit the + sign and a new line appears with the word "Tag" highlighted. No matter what I enter, the word "Tag" appears in the transaction tag drop down box. If I add a second tag, no matter what I type as the tag, the word "Tag 1" appears in the drop down box. Is this a bug, or a feature that is available only on the registered and purchased copy of the program?
Thanks,
Bob

I downloaded the file again, reinstalled, and now the "Edit Tags" is working.

Hi Bob
I have not been able to reproduce the problem you were describing. Its possible there was a problem with your java installation and without being able to see first hand I am not able to diagnose the cause. I am glad the problem is resolved even though it is still a mystery.
If the problem returns please let me know and I will investigate further.
Sincerely
Ben Spencer

Thanks for your reply. It is highly unusual to receive a personal email from tech support at a company, and I appreciate that. The program actually stopped starting, even though the task manager said it was running. I uninstalled Java 6.17 and MD2010 trial from my computer, then downloaded the MD Trial including Java, reinstalled, and everything works now. I like the program and will gladly be switching from Quicken.
Thanks,
Bob

You are welcome! We are a relatively small company compared to the likes of Microsoft and Intuit and that tends to make it possible to have a more direct relationship with our users.

Ben, I am seeing similar behavior in build 727. When I use the tag editor to add a tag with a description of "kitchen" for example, the description is saved as "Tag the first time.
If I get out of the program and back in, then go to the tag editor and change the tag described as "Tag" to "Kitchen" and save it, the change works.

I believe I now know the cause of this problem. If you create a new tag and enter a name but do not press return after entering the name, the name you give it does not take. Please press return after naming a tag before clicking ok at the bottom of the window.

Hi John
The message appears when there are tags that have duplicate names. This usually occurs when you have imported your data from a program that allowed tags with duplicate names. You will have to carefully look through the list of existing tags and delete any duplicates.
