Reinstalling Moneydance should not make any difference.
The .moneydance folder is created when you run Moneydance if the
folder does not exist and if you have write permission. If the
.moneydance folder is not created when you run Moneydance then
there is a permissions problem with your home folder.
Moneydance has accepted the registration.
I created the <.moneydance> folder in a subdirectory because
I was not permitted to create a folder in Home. I then dragged the
newly created folder into my home folder. I was asked for
authentification for some reason. Any how, it works now.
