Canadian downloading from banks

Hi

I believe that OFX does not work with Canadian banks unless it recently has been added.

However I have been using MINT and it is able to automatically download my transaction though I am not exactly sure how...

Is there any way to use a similar technology as MINT ... or get OFX to work with more Canadian banks..

    Hi Mac,

    There are two methods that personal finance software can use to access your accounts: direct connect and web connect. With web connect, the software basically connects to your bank's website and downloads and imports OFX, QFX, QIF, and OFC files automatically. Mint uses a version of web connect. Direct connect actually connects to a server at your bank instead of their website and usually requires different login credentials than you would use to log into your banks website. Moneydance only supports automatic connections through direct connect and not web connect. You can still download OFX, QFX, QIF, and OFC files files from your bank and import them, but there's currently no way to do this automatically from within Moneydance.

    We are looking into offering web connect, since it is by far our most requested feature. After some research, we believe we may have figured out a good partial implementation of it, though a fuller implementation will be much more difficult. We will keep the Moneydance community updated about new developments in web connect for Moneydance.

    Hi Mac,

    At the moment, we're working on hard on getting Moneydance 2011 released. Once that's done (hopefully within the month), we'll start working on new features. Web connect is very close to the top of our list, and we hope to have something new on that front later this year. We'll certainly post an update on our blog about it when it's available.
