Account types

We have just switched to Moneydance from Quicken. We would prefer our current accounts, savings accounts and Cash ISAs in the different groups, rather than all being in the one group (Bank). It seems one solution is to have sub-groups and to put all current accounts in one sub-group, savings accounts in a second and our Cash ISAs (Tax exempt) in third. We get the impression that this is possible, but cannot see how to do it. Any suggestions please.
Thank you.

Are you looking to do one of these:

    1. Create a new account and attach current accts as childs/sub groups (i.e. create new Tax Exempt parent and attach Cash ISA as child/sub group).

Go to Tools > Edit Accounts and click on "New" at bottom of dialogue box. Select the Acct Type and fill in the information regarding the acct (i.e. Acct Type: "Bank", Acct Name: "Tax Exempt", parent acct: "My Finances"). Then go back to the accts you want to make sub groups and pick the new acct as the parent (i.e. select "Cash ISA" and hit the Edit button at the bottom of the dialogue box; go to Parent Acct option and select "Tax Exempt" from the drop down arrows; hit OK in lower right hand corner). Repeat for each acct you want to make a sub group of the new parent acct. Click Done when you have all the accts attached. The parent will roll up all the child accts attached to it and show their total (you'll be able to see each individual acct as well).

    1. Rename the accounts so they just all don't say "bank" so you can identify them (i.e. Cash ISA Dad; Cash ISA Mom)

Go to Tools > Edit Accounts select the acct you want to rename and click on "Edit" at bottom of dialogue box. You can rename the acct by typing over existing name in Acct Name box. Click OK.

    1. Change the account type (i.e from Bank to Asset account)

Follow the procedure detailed here: http://help.infinitekind.com/faqs/frequently-asked-questions-2/how-...

If none of these options answer your question please post again.

Thanks jbnyt, that's exactly what we wanted to do. Easy when you know how!
