Landscape printing
I am trying to print the asset allocation report in landscape. I have details included in the security names such as yield to maturity and maturity date that make the security names cut off on this report. I have hunted for hours, and can't find it.
The help page "change a document's page orientation" instructions do not work. I can't find the appropriate boxes in the various print set screens.
In Quicken I could slide the column dividers to narrow columns that contain info I don't need for a particular task. I can't seem to get the column widths to adjust in MD.
I'd appreciate your help

Hi Bob,
There is a 'Print in Landscape' checkbox iin the lower left-hand corner of the 'Edit' parameters window for the Asset Allocation report. It's near the 'Reset' button.
The width of the columns of the report are adjustable by grabbing the divider in the header row of the report. Your cursor will turn into double-facing arrows.

Bob,
Kevin's advice is excellent, and a great place to start. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.

I was able to resize the columns. My screen does not show a divider in the header of that report, but when I fish with the curser the double arrows do appear. Thank you.
I need a little more help to find the "Print in Landscape" button. By "edit parameter window" are you referring to the edit word in an oval box just to the left of the "print" button? All I find on that drop down at the bottom is "ok" and "cancel". I don't see a "reset" button, so I must be on the wrong screen.

Bob,
You should click the "Edit" button at the top of the report window. This will bring up the options displayed- the "Print in Landscape" check-box is at the bottom left of this window. I hope this helps, and please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

Hi Bob,
From your screenshot it looks as though you are working in the right area. Although the lower-left hand corner of your screenshot is cropped off. This is where the 'Print in Landscape' checkbox should be.
Perhaps you're using an older version of Moneydance that does not have this feature.
The current version of Moneydance is 2011r2 (Build 803)

I bet that's the ticket. I'm on 2010r3. How much grief will it be to update? Learning curve?

Hi Bob,
The changes to the GUI between MD 2010 are MD 2011 are subtle.
You can read through the change log here:
http://moneydance.com/preview/changes
You may want to try plunking your License Key into the 'Upgrading' field on the right-hand side of the following webpage to see if you're eligible for a free or reduce price upgrade:
http://moneydance.com/other
You'll be able to download the installation file from the same webpage.
If in the event that you are not elibible for the free upgrade, you may want to first download the free trial version of Build 803 to see if the 'Print to Landscape' feature works for you.
You can always revert back to your prior version.

Hi Kevin
I put my key in and the website says I am ok for a free upgrade. I hit "download now", and it seemed to do something, but I don't see any new file in my downloads folder (though I have a million files in there I should delete).
Also my version under "About" still shows 2010 - 2010r3 (751).
What should happen after I hit "download now" for the free upgrade? What do I do next?
Thanks for your patience.

Hi Bob,
Download the installation file directly from the following site, just choose the right one for your particular Operating System:
http://moneydance.com/other
Take note of where you download the installation file to.
Once downloaded, run the installation file to update your current installtion. You may or may not need to be logged on as an Administrator to install the program.
