Quicken Doesn't create QIF files, so how can I import?
I cannot open my Quicken program and they don't have a fix yet.
It's untenable.
I am considering your product, but you, like everyone else only
imports QIF files which don't exist as far as I can determine.
Quicken does not save the files under this extension. My files and
backup files are only in .QDF format, so I have no way of importing
the files from Quicken into your software.
To make matters worse, you don't import *.csv files, either.
I certainly don't want to manually enter all my transactions since
January 1.
I can only assume you do not have a viable alternative for me.

Hi Christine,
Although I've never used it Moneydance does provide an extention to import formated text files.
http://help.infinitekind.com/faqs/frequently-asked-questions-2/avai...
To add the extention, from the Menu bar, click on 'Extentions' then 'Add...' Choose the 'From the Internet' radio button, click 'Next'. Choose the 'Text File Importer' from the resulting table.
Like I said, I've never used the TFI so I don't know if it will help you but it's worth a shot.

Christine--
Neither Quicken nor any other personal finance software actually stores data in the QIF format. The QDF file you are looking at is your data file. QIF, on the other hand, is an export/import format; there is an option in Quicken to export your data, and QIF should be an option under that operation. If you can't even open Quicken, however, then exporting the data to a QIF file is going to be tough. You can't just reinstall Quicken entirely? (I'm sure you've worked through this with the tech support folks at Intuit.)

I've tried it all. Once my husband takes a break from his laptop long
enough for me to make the attempt, I'm going to try putting Quicken on his
WindowsXP and importing the data files so I can bring it up on his laptop.
I'm hoping the problem is interfacing with Vista Ultimate (although it
worked fine until a week or two ago), but he's working on a big project
every day and I'm on hold.
I've used Quicken for years and this isn't the first time I've had problems
"out of the blue" and I'm fed up. The software has seriously failed me and
I'm going to use something else, but I won't re-enter everything from
scratch. Once I can access my data again, Quicken is history.
I considered purchasing your program and I downloaded the trial version, but
it doesn't import .csv files. I have the means to convert financial
downloads into excel and from there into text/.csv files, but until I can
get access to Quicken and export the file in the QIF format, I'm stymied.
The banks only download in QIF format the current transactions and so that
won't work for pulling statement data into your program.
As a last resort, I'm hoping I can import the data is some format unto
Peachtree. I used it years ago and it's a strong program, but pricey.

Hi Christine,
Have you looked into the 'Text File Importer' extention?
Moneydance DOES import .qif files downloaded from banks. The issue would be that Financial Institutions usually only make available a few months worth of data for download.
