Checkfree (or similar) support?
According to one of the posts here referring to Chackfree, "Moneydance can not make use of third party bill pay services." However, "CheckFree Online Bill Payment" is listed under "Supported Financial Institutions" on the web site.
I'd like to switch to Moneydance from Quicken, but I need the online bill pay feature. My credit union is small and not very tech-savvy; the only online payment service they offer is Checkfree Web.
Is there actually any way to pay bills online from Moneydance using a third party service? If not, is that planned for the future?

Hi Grant,
It may be the case that you'll be able to pay bills through the CheckFree Online Bill Payment option in Moneydance, but I'm not sure. I would suggest that you download the free trial of Moneydance and go ahead and try it out to see if it works. The demo version is fully-functional and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions. Imported transactions are not limited. If you decide to purchase the program at a later date you can keep all your data, the license key simply unlocks the ability to manually enter more transactions.
For more information on how to get the most out of your trial period, check out our blog post on the subject.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance!

Is there an update to this question? I currently use Quicken bill pay which I love and this sounded as though it maybe a replacement. I would like to know if this worked so I coulsd subscribe to checkfree to replace Quicken.

Davier,
We haven't been able to confirm that Checkfree continues to work from within Moneydance (it certainly once did). But Checkfree is a free service so I don't think there is any downside to registering for the service and attempting to use it within Moneydance. It is unclear at the moment whether they continue to support the OFX protocol necessary to issue payments from 3rd party software such as Moneydance.
We will continue to try to clarify this and let you know one way or the other.
Sincerely,

I want to migrate from Quicken for Mac 2006 to MoneyDance for Mac. Like me, thousands of Quicken users subscribe to Quicken Bill Pay at $9.95/month. Can I use MoneyDance to pay my bills electronically, just like I do within Quicken today, as long as I maintain my Quicken Bill Pay account?
Here's Quicken Bill Pay's website:

That is an interesting question. I like you ,use Quicken and love their bill
pay feature. I have found that "Mycheckfree" is a web based only bill pay
and will not work like Quicken, however if you have all your bills sent to
you as e-bills it appears you can pay them online and download the info to
MoneyDance. From what I read this would include scheduled bills as well as
executed ones. The bill pay services offered by the banks is a online
application which will allow you to pay, but the info can only be downloaded
after execution. To me this means double entry.
I did not ask the question of interfacing MD with Quicken and keeping my
Quicken account open. I talked to Checkfree technical support, they process
Quicken Bill Pay, and they gave me the info. Their number if you would like
to raise the question is, 800-462-6765. I would be interested in the answer
myself.
Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave(s),
We've tried to add support for Quicken Bill Pay in the past, but had no luck. However, it's been a while and many improvements to Moneydance since I last tried it, so it's worth a shot. If possible, it would be very helpful to me if you could send me logs that are generated in Quicken when you use their bill pay feature. You can get the logs through the following steps:
1) In Quicken, go through your normal process of paying a bill.
2) Next, go to the help menu and click on Product and Customer Support.
3) In the window that pops up, click on the OFX Log link. Save this file and email it to me at ***@moneydance.com.
The debugging logs that this produces will contain your account information, so please don't attach it to this public forum. To be safe you should redact any account info in the debug logs. Just replace it with something like "ACCOUNT NUMBER HERE" and it should be fine.
Thanks in advance for help on this! Hopefully I'll be able to get useful information from the logs.

Hi All,
So, I've added experimental support for Quicken Bill Pay to Moneydance, but I'm not sure it will actually work. Could you try testing it out? Just up bill pay for an account using the "zzzzQuicken Bill Pay" connection (which is at the bottom of the downloaded list. Please let me know if it works or, if not, what error messages you get.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the update. That's what I was afraid would happen. I'll ask our developers to take a look at this, but it's probably just be the case that Quicken Bill Pay only works through Quicken software. We've tried adding support for this before, but not been successful.
Sorry for the inconvenience. I'll see what I can do, but I'm not to hopefully about us being able to add this support.

I appreciate the effort. It would be nice if you could get it to work. If
that's the only feature missing, then I can work with it.
