an additional way to change fields within, and to save manually entered transactions would be nice
As a recent new user, formerly a Quicken user, here's what I miss the most. (The list of what I do not miss would be very long indeed).
I'd find it more ergonomic to change fields within a transaction upon entering Enter, especially since the date field and then the check number can both be scrolled + - from the numeric keypad while I keep a paper register pinned down with my left hand. A new Alt-Enter and/or a save transaction button would only need to be used once per transaction versus multiple enters. Any interest?

I am not sure I understand what you are describing. Could you be more specific?

Hi Ben,
I think what the OP is describing is similar to this existing post where the user wishes to use ENTER instead of TAB to move about the different fields of a txn.

My apologies to the OP if I am misinterpreting your suggestion.

Thank you Ben and Kevin. My suggestion is similar except, unlike the
post you reference, my Quicken 2010 for Windows optionally configured
both ENTER keys to change fields while ALT-ENTER would save the record.
To say it a different way, one most likely changes fields multiple times
for some records, and ENTER can facilitate easier data entry than TAB in
some situations. One example is that when using your left hand to hold
down a paper check register and your right hand to type letters and
numeric keypad numbers it is easier to type ENTER with its two locations
to change fields. Any clearer?

R,
Ok, I better understand what's going on here and what you're asking for. I have created a ticket for this issue. The ticket is attached to this discussion. By posting in this discussion your interest in the ticket has been registered. This is equivalent to voting for it, and you'll automatically be notified when we have updates.
That said, I'm not sure this will be implemented anytime soon. I can imagine that a feature like this could quickly become complex (and potentially problematic) when dealing with the many different operating systems Moneydance interacts with. Still, I'm not a programmer so I'm not entirely sure about this.
When we have updates on this feature request we'll post on this thread, and you'll be automatically notified when we do. Thanks for using Moneydance, and please let me know if I can be of further assistance,
Angie Rauscher
