Setting up a budget
I've read the knowledge base posting about Setting Up a Budget
(e.g. setting up 3-4 different monthly amounts by setting up 3
different entries for that category’s date range).
Question: Why don't you just have a budget setup window where the
categories are on the left side of the screen and then you have Jan
through Dec boxes to enter amounts. Then when the amounts are the
same for each month one could just fill to the right and when the
amounts were different some month one could simply enter those
amounts. Much like Quicken 2007 allows you to do. I've even pleaded
with Quicken to have an import function to load a budget from a
spreadsheet (column 1 would be categories and column 2-13 would be
the 12 months of budget numbers by category).
Let me know what you think.... seems like an easy way to setup a budget without so much entry. This is about the only thing in MoneyDance 2010 that I find confusing to me.
Thanks,
Marty

Marty,
I'm not quite sure why we don't currently do it in this way, but I will pass this suggestion on to our developer for further consideration. It does seem that this could improve the usability of our budgeting tool. Our feature request and bug reporting system is integrated with our wiki. We invite our users to register and use these systems to help improve Moneydance by bringing bugs to our attention and requesting new features. Users can also vote on tickets, which helps us determine how wide-spread bugs are and which requests have the most demand.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,
Angie Rauscher
