Envelope Budgeting
Hi all,
I've been searching for information on Envelope Budgeting in Moneydance and it turns out it is a popular feature request but information is spread out in various different threads, wiki articles and trac tickets.
I'd like to suggest to users who are interested in this
particular feature that they vote for it on the following trac

Thanks for the response Ben. You still didn't answer my second question though.
Is the new budgeting feature that you are planning actually an envelope budgeting system?

Hi Kevin,
Wow, that sounds great. Please count me as one more vote in favor of
an integrated envelope budgeting system. Saving money for later has
been one very important household function I have had a lot of trouble
coordinating with Moneydance. So, instead I have resorted to paper
envelopes. I love how moneydance automates reconciling my checkbook,
etc., and I wish it could automate saving money towards different
goals.

Another vote for the ability to budget by envelopes. I still can't believe that something that was so easy in Quicken (which I switched from!) is still so difficult in MD.

Here is another vote to integrate envelope budgeting. I'd love to not have to do it in a separate spreadsheet!

+1 for the envelope budgeting feature. I would love to see budget envelopes associated with categories/tags. That way when I specify a purchase as "groceries" it is automatically deducted from the correct envelope. Splits would be a necessary feature since some purchases would have items spanning multiple categories.

If the interface for the envelope budgeting were visually simple and intuitive, then I would be able to use it to share the most important daily parts of the family finances with the children and my spouse. They don't want all the details I track, just the basics. Please make an envelope budgeting tool that can be used in this manner.

Yes, please bring us an envelope system. I used multiple banks and accounts so I would like it to be able to at least scale down for an account (envelopes belonging to an account) even if it doesn't have a scale across all accounts (all similar envelopes summarized).

Another vote for an envelope budget system within Moneydance. It would lift MD way above the competition. There is definitely the need for personal finance software that integrates the forward planning budgeting of You Need A Budget with the ability to track investments as well as checks, credit cards and savings.
