I would love to see capability to filter out a specific category of transaction in any and all reports and graphs, especially the graphs. I have a category of expenses that I don't want to see in the reports and graphs and a category of income that I don't want to see in the reports and graphs and I would like to filter those categories out directly and not have to use tags on everything else as a backwards way to exclude the 2 things I don't want to see.
This capability is one of the few things I miss from Quicken after switching to Moneydance.
I have seen a few other entries in the support knowledgebase asking for this feature or something similar so I wanted to write it here to get it logged as an official suggestion from the users.

    just a user,

You can exclude any category from your reports. So I'm a bit confused what you are asking for.

I looked through the user guide and I didn't see the instructions how to do it. Maybe I missed something in the user guide?

Also I asked for filtering out of categories in graphs as well.

    Hi Lee,

    As an example...
Access either of the Income & Expenses reports from the left side bar.
In the upper right-hand margin, click the 'Edit' button.
In the resulting form, click the 'Reset' button at the bottom.
    Set the desired parameters.
Above the large box near the bottom, click the 'By Individual' button.
You can then select / deselect the desired categories.

For either of the Income or Expenses graphs...
When selecting the parameters, un-check the 'Show Top' option.
You can then select / deselect the desired categories.

Thanks for the help. This is more useful information than what I was able to find in the official documentation.

    Hi Lee,

You're welcome. I'm glad to hear that it helped.

Some of the documentation does leave the user up to their own defenses. :(
