Downloading Bond Prices
I'm running MAC OS X 10.7.4 on a new MacBook Pro. I have downloaded MD 2011 r2 (803) and extensions Security Price Entry and Quotes and Exchange Rates. I have set up a new investment account and added online downloading (at Fidelity Inv).
1- I have gotten the current stock price to download but not a history of past prices. Can that be done, if so how?
2- I have this bond in my account and can not get it to download the price "GENERAL ELEC CAP CORP MTN BE 2.95000% 05/09/2016 SR NT". On my Fidelity account the symbol is listed as "36962G5C4". This is the CUSIP for the bond. When I go to Edit security the correct CUSIP is showing in the "Ticker Symbol" window. How do I get the prices to download?
I have checked this web site and the feedbacks says I should be able to download bond prices.
I am trying MD (I'm a 15 year Quicken user but the new Quicken 2007 for Lion can NOT download bond prices) but have many bonds. The one I mentioned is a trial - if I can not get MD to download bond prices then I can not use MD to monitor may investments and my account balance, net worth will be off. HELP.

Hello,
Select Extensions -> Quotes and Exchange Rates from the menu bar. Please ensure that the "Historical security prices" field has a source selected. If it does, click on the "advanced" button at the upper right, and then press the "test" button in the lower left of the window. The window will then report whether it can get the current quote and history for each particular security. Check to make sure that the history is available for the security in question. If it is not, this is because it is not available from the location where you have selected to get historical prices.
As to your second point, the quotes extension uses Yahoo finance to retrieve current security information. You will need to search on http://finance.yahoo.com/ to find the ticker symbol that Yahoo uses, which is sometimes different from other sites, especially for things like bonds.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

Ethan, can you please show one real-world example where Yahoo provides a bond quote and how you actually fetch it from Moneydance.
I can't find any of my bonds, using any possible description of the bonds provided by Fidelity, including name, CUSIP, ISIN, SEDOL ...
I presently enter the bond prices manually once a week, by looking up the prices in my Fidelity portfolio...
Downloading stocks prices work fine, but I can't get any Bond prices from Yahoo. ( I can see them at http://quotes.wsj.com/ .

Fred,
Yahoo does not seem to provide bond quotes. The extension was designed to go to the Yahoo finance site, retrieve a downloadable file, then convert it to Moneydance.
Yahoo was used because ti was a free site. I'm sorry if this does not meet your needs.
