I'm investigating personal financial packages for use on my MAC. We have a couple of investment properties that I would like to include in whatever software I purchase. Is there a way to track rental property income, expenses, and market value of rental property in MoneyDance? I use a property management company to manage the properties, so I'm not looking for software to actually pay rental bills.

    Hi Clint

You could certainly set up an income and expense category with sub categories for each property. And then run an income and expense report restricted to the accounts you are interested in.

As for tracking the market value of the property you could create an investment account and add the property as a security. You could then manually update the price of that security when data became available.

If you need specific instruction on how to do this let me know. I'd be glad to give you more detail.

    Sincerely

    Hi Moneydance,

My question will go a little bit deeper than above.

Is there a way to produce a report showing the equity balance of a rental property along with the income/expense data for the period chosen? From what the answer above looks like, I am sure that I could print two separate reports but my interest is in producing one report.

    Thanks,

    Ron Roberts

P.S. The software looks very professional and I am sure that I will be happy with it.

    Hi Ron

I am afraid that I can think of no way to combine the two reports. I think you'll have to run them separately.
