Canceled online bill payments in register

I have canceled an online bill payment. Even after several days of downloading transactions for that account, the payment remains in my account register. Is it necessary for me to manually delete it from the register? I have verified that the bill payment was in fact successfully canceled. I would have expected the register to adjust accordingly, but perhaps it doesn't. Thanks!

    Hi,
    You will need to delete the transaction from your register. The protocols that your bank uses to communicate with Moneydance allows it to send information to your computer but it does not allow it to give instructions delete information.

    I have the same problem. I don't know about the bank protocol but in Quicken, this same transaction downloads as VOID and cancelled and the amount is set to $0 so the register is updated and accurate. I believe this is how it should work.

    For now, I'll manually delete it in MD but hope this can be done in the next release.

    I think this is a bug or flaw in Moneydance. Using Moneydance, I previously scheduled a future payment from a checking account to a credit card account. I track both accounts in Moneydance and Quicken. This morning, I cancelled that payment using Moneydance. Then I did a Download All Accounts and noticed that no changes were made in the register to reflect the cancelled transaction. I launched Quicken and ran its one-step update. Sure enough, Quicken correctly acknowledged the payment as cancelled and Quicken voided the matching transactions in its register. So, why can Quicken do this properly but Moneydance cannot?

    Hi Harvey,

    Thanks for your bug report. You're right that Moneydance should automatically void cancelled bill payment transactions. I've filed a bug ticket for this so that we can address it in a future release. We'll let you know once it's been fixed.
