I have one MD db for my business, residing in DropBox. My wife on a PC & I on a Mac can easily access the same DB (not at the same time), anywhere we have a net connection. Works perfectly. CAN I set up another personal MD db, which would also reside in DropBox.? It would have a different name, probably Family.md Will this work? IF yes, and after I set up the family account would I quit the program to switch from one account to the other? I don't need to see both accounts side by side, as each account resides with different banking institutions. Or, if possible is there a way to see both accounts (family & business) at the same time (using 2 windows), on either the Mac OR the PC. I know I can't have the same DB open on both the Mac & PC at the same time.

    Hi cduzynski,

You can have two different .md data files in your drop box folder. You can have two different sub-folders that each are in your drop box folder, or you can just have two .MD files in the same (main) drop box folder.

You can't have both files open at the same time from one computer (but you could have each one open on a separate computer at the same time). In order to switch from one file to the other from the menu bar at the top of your screen, choose file->open and find the file you want in your drop box folder. There is no need to first quit Moneydance when switching from one data file (your family file) to the other (your business file).

Let me know if I can answer any more questions for you.

    Sincerely,

    Hello Brian:

So I launched my business account from the .md file in drop box. From that account, I went to "new account", and made a new account called "Family". Money Dance put the "Family" account as part of the business account, which I do not want. I want the "Family" account to be unattached and separate from the business account.

Please see attached screen shot to see how it looks now, which is not what I want. You can see at the top it says "Family - Photo.md", and in the folder tree at left, under BANK it says Checking, Family, and Savings. I don't want the Family account to have any association to the business account.

Please advise when you get a moment.

    Chris,

Instead of creating a new account from (account->new account) for family (which creates a new bank account in your business data file), you should choose (file->new) in order to create a new data file. From this new data file (which you can name "family") once opened, you can then choose to create new accounts ie checking, saving, investment etc by choosing (account->new account).

I hope that clears it up.

    Sincerely,
