sync with iCal? backup to MobileMe?

I'm comparing iBank and Moneydance. It seems iBank can sync with
iCal and can back-up to MobileMe. Does Moneydance have these
features?

The Moneydance account file that contains the '^' is the auto save file. You should not and need not interact with this file. The only file you even need to open is the file that ends with the ".md".

thanks for the info.
the .md file is the once i can't open up and doesn't show as updated (when it is, shows that way on the imac) on the macbook. this is the root, so to speak, of my probems.

Can you show me a screenshot of what you see when you select file->open and try and select the root .md file. Press the print screen key on your keyboard to take a screenshot.

Hi ben,
Here is the screen shot where I try to open the moneydance file on my
macbook pro. You can see how the moneydance files are all gray.

Looking at your screenshot it is more than just the Moneydance files that are greyed out. The groups folder, the library folder, the software folder and the web folder are also greyed out. I suspect the problem is one of the permissions not being set correctly. Are you able to share any files (not just Moneydance files) with this iDisk with your macbook pro?

Permissions on MobileMe. Can you check the permissions on the .md files that you have stored on MobileMe?

thanks ben. what should i be checking for? in other words, i know the files are shared as i can see them on my iphone but, other than that, i'm not sure what else to look for.

This is the screenshot from the imac which has full access to moneydance
and experiences no problems at all

I mean - when you speak to the Apple guys, find out why your 4 folders are alias' instead of normal folders - i.e. make sure your mobileme is functioning properly.
It will mean you have eliminated that as a possible cause of your problems.

Neil,
I'm at the apple store now and we're experiencing problems automatically
syncing using mobileme and the idisk. We have a local copy of the idisk
on the mac yet it won't copy to that copy and when we try to copy directly
to the cloud, it freezes moneydance. The problem is not mobileme, it's
the way moneydance syncs with the cloud.
Any ideas?

Did you resolve the fact your folders are alias'? They should all be folders.

Do you have computer, mobileme, iPhone and iPad. What is the combination of these you have?
Do you frequently go to mobileme or use it to sync with iPhone, iPad and computer, mainly?
Do you have Time Capsule?

hi frank.
i finally got the two computers to sync by removing then re-installing moneydance on the macbook. i think it may have had something to do re-entering the license key.
but to answer your questions:
1. "what is your mobileme setup?" - don't understand what this means.
2. yes, all of these: imac, macbook pro, iphone, ipad, and itouch.
3. i use a combination thereof. mostly sync with the imac but also sync on the cloud.
4. no, i use time machine with a g-drive external drive.

Where I was headed was if other things are syncing and Moneydance is not then back up Moneydance data several ways, uninstall/delete it and install a fresh copy, then shut down all machines except Time Capsule and turn on in computer, first order and see if it works. You've figured out all that.

I would like Moneydance to integrate with Ical.
i have been a moneydance user for some time. I switched to IBank when they came out with a mobile app.
I came back to Moneydance as soon as I discovered the Moneydance Iphone app.
Moneydance is much better in every aspect! love the utomatic syncing
The reminder calendar showing up on ical is the only feature of Ibank I miss.
