Payee Reports?
I have downloaded the trial version and imported transactions from Money. In Money I used to run reports on a particular payee. I cannot find this feature in Moneydance. Is there a way to do that?

Firstly I recommend updating to the latest preview build 748. There have been some important report bug fixes and improvements in this build. You can get it form the link below:
http://moneydance.com/trac/wiki/Moneydance2010Beta
The go to Tools->Graphs and reports and set the "Subtotal by payee" option as shown in the attached screenshot.

I have the same need. I did all you suggested but still cant get a report for the sole payee (description field)

To run a report on a single payee/description use the search report and enter the description in the description field in the report options window as shown in the screenshot attached.
If you are not getting the results you expected are you certain that you are entering the description correctly? Try using copy and paste if the description is long to ensure there are no typos.

Hey there Ben. Any chance there’s a way of creating a graph for a specific payee too?
I’m using the Search Report which works nicely. But it would be nice to have a visual representation as well, especially when tracking one payee over the years.
Thanks!

Hi rob,
An easy way to do that would be to run the Search Report, then use the 'Copy to Clipboard' button to Copy and Paste the data to a spreadsheet. Displaying a graph of the data in a spreadsheet is pretty straight forward.
Another option would be to Tag all txns with the particular Payee and run the Expense Report filtered by Tags.

Kevin, these are viable workarounds. However, they aren’t quite ideal. It would seem like such an easy addition to Moneydance to include a charting by payee.
Perhaps a feature request?

Unfortunately I don't see a "Search Report" anywhere in the list of Graphs & Reports. I am using os X 10.7.2 with Moneydance 2011r2 (803). I have included a screenshot where I hope you can see that in my case the reports are listed alphabetically, below the graphs, starting with "Account Balances" and ending with "VAT/GST." There are no reports starting with S. Instead I have (..., Portfolio, "Tag Summary", ...)
Hope you can help,
Paul

Hi Paul,
I beleive that the Search report was renamed or replaced by the Transactions report.
Anyway, try using the Transactions report and subtotal by Payee.

I would suggest to have a payee field in the system. Similar to "address book" as by description/memo it's not convenient.
I open a ticket with this suggestion.
hope to get more people that agree with that and to have this feature in the system.
