I don't seem to be able to print to PDF. Printing to actual printers works fine, but if I try to print to a PDF, the Print button flashes for a minute and then nothing else happens. Similarly, if I try to Save as a PDF file via the PDF button, nothing happens.

I am on a Mac, OS X 10.5. I don't have this problem with other applications, so I think it is something to do with MoneyDance. Help/adice?

Your on a MAC, but this might apply as I have that same issue on Ubuntu - Linux. Look in your Root Directory. PDF files might get defaulted to a diffrent folder or file.

What build of MD are you on? I am on a Mac with Leopard using MD 2010 build 735 and I was able to save to a PDF file. I opened the report and hit Print in the upper right hand corner and the Mac print dialogue opened. I then clicked on the PDF drop down and selected Save as PDF and designated what folder to save to. From there I could print out the report.

To Robert: Thanks for the suggestion, but that isn't what is happening on my machine.

To jbnyt: I am using 2010r2 735. I'm assuming that's the same. After reading your post I did some more experimenting. If I select Adobe PDF as my printer, my results are as I've reported (i.e., I can not print using either the "print" button or the "pdf/save as..." procedure). If, however, I select an actual physical printer, then I can print using the "pdf/save as..." procedure. So...

    1. Thanks for giving me a way out of this for now, but
    2. This functionality is certainly broken, and a bit of a hack if others have the same problem (do you, for example, get the same results when choosing Adobe PDF as your printer?), and
    3. Dang the report is ugly. :( Could it look any more like an old school line feed printer output?

I will leave this as an open issue for the MD folks since this is a bug (unless others are not having the same issue).

Would you please let me know what version of Java you are running so we can look into this issue further?

The Java Preferences Application, located in the /Applications/Utilities/Java folder, lets you set the version of Java that is used by default. Run the java preferences application and move the java 1.6 above java 1.5. If you don't see java 1.6 ensure you have all the latest updates for your computer installed.

    Sincerely

    Ben Spencer
