Chart of Accounts
Hi folks,
I've set up a new moneydance database for each year; this was done as moneydance didn't allow you to close a years accounts to start a new one. Unfortunately each year i have to then painfully go through and change the chart of accounts to the same as the year before!!! Is there a shorter way of doing this? Could I just export the Chart of Accounts I set up in my original database and then copy it into the new one? I can't see a way to do this and thought I ask for help incase I am just being plain dumb....
Many thanks,
Julia

Have you thought about just archiving at the end of the year? It can put all of last years transactions in a separate file if you check the right options.

Hi Randy,
Yes that would be the best thing to do - but my version doesn't do it...
I've not upgraded as being in the UK the upgrades haven't really added much to benefit - except the ability to archive! Hmmm, I was just hoping to find a easy solution.
Thanks for your help though :o)

Julia,
Sorry to chime in so late, but I have another possible solution for you. You could create the new year's account by using the File-> Save As option, then delete the old transactions (one account at a time) by using the Ctrl+A option to select all the transactions and delete them. Then you would change the starting balance of each account to reflect the appropriate balance at the start of the new year. This would allow you to keep your chart of accounts and even your budget, but also to start from scratch each year.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,
