I was surprised to see that I was allowed to create a category with exactly the same name as another category. Shouldn't there be a safeguard against that?

I apologize for the long delay in our response, I am embarrassed to say that we have been snowed under with questions about Moneydance 2010. Hmm, there probably should be. Would you please let me know the version of Moneydance you are using, including the build number? Would you also let me know if the name was exactly the same (ie capitalization and spaces before or after the name)?

    Thank you,

Yep, exactly the same. For example, I can do it with "New Account" or any other string, like "Boogie" or "Walrus Face" or anything else.

In general, I recommend using "Walrus Face" as a category.

I have been able to re-create this issue on the latest build of Moneydance, and I'll point our developer toward this case to see what kinds of solutions we can come up with. I agree that "Walrus Face" is a top-notch category name.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
