Two users on one computer

My husband and I use MoneyDance for our combined household finances. In the past we were able to each access the program separately - from our separate accounts on one computer. And the data would always be the same no matter who was looking at it. We recently upgraded to a new Windows 10 machine. We again have separate sign-in accounts on the computer. I was able to successfully move the data from the old computer, but now when my husband makes an update in MoneyDance, I don't see it when I open my copy. How do we sync things up? I've tried "pointing" both of us to the same data set, but somehow it ends up not syncing and creating separate data sets for him and for me. Help, please. Thanks.

    Hmm, you should both be able to edit the same data file. It may.come down to how you have been "pointing" the program to this data file. The way to do this should be to use the open other option from the Moneydance welcome screen or the menu bar (File -> Open -> Open Other) to select your yourfilename.moneydance data set. If you've done something else, like using the import functions, it's possible you created a copy of your data file for each user.

    Thank you. Thank you. I thought I had done as you had described with the "open other" function. But when I rechecked I saw that the two accounts were accessing separate/different data files. I've now got them both "pointing" to the same one and it seems to work perfectly. Thanks again.

    That's great to hear. You may want to make sure to remove whatever extra data file it was opening while you're still aware it's there, if it was just some sort of unneeded copy. It may be very easy to open by accident, and you may not realize there was a problem until things seemed out of sync again.
