Strange thing happens.

Almost every time, without fail, when I download the OFX files from my bank, I go through each of the entries and merge them with my transactions in the register, all of the blue spots in the Description field turn into a blue circle and the transaction is marked as cleared with a green spot.
The next time that I open MD, the same account will show a couple of the transactions from the day before with a solid blue spot and will be uncleared. If I then merge these again, the account will stay cleared, until the next time that I download more OFX files.
This happens on different accounts from different banks virtually every time that I download.
It doesn't cause a problem, just that it is a bit annoying.

    I'm a fellow user.

As a starting point I suggest you post your error log.

If you're using Mac OS, it should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:

    ~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt

    or:

    ~/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt

If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder, open Finder and select Go -> Go to Folder and copy and paste in the following:

    ~/Library

This should pull up your local Library folder.

If you're using Windows, it should be located under your login directory at:

    C:\Users\(yourusername)\.moneydance\errlog.txt

    or

    C:\Documents and Settings\(yourusername)\.moneydance\errlog.txt

Depending on your version of Windows

If you're using Linux it should be located in your home folder at:
    ~/.moneydance/errlog.txt

At the very least this file will provide an overview of your configuration, so it provides some basic information even if there are no errors.

The log provides a lot of useful information, this is what I got out of it. It answer some routine questions that would be asked, and it also gives enough information to rule out a couple of causes of weird things happening.

    - You are running the latest stable release of Moneydance 2019.1 (1855)

    - The operating system is Windows 10

    - The software is trying to load 4 extensions, the files of which have been removed from the fmodules directory:

       o CreditCardPayoff extension
       o Payoff extension
       o netsync extension
       o yahoofx extension

This is not a problem in its own right more of a nuisance and Moneydance itself does not have a neat way of fixing this, but it also says you upgraded to Moneydance 2019 from an earlier release.

    - The name of the data set being opened is: Tom Finances and it is in the default location.

    - You have created a syncing configuration and it is syncing with at least one other device.

    - You have automatic backups enabled

There is nothing that is shouting out to me, but your problem is rather subtle. It sounds like some transactions are being overwritten by an earlier version of the same, the log file eliminated one of the known causes of this.

What I'm seeing in the log file is some transaction files with slight different times, it makes me wonder if that is the source of the problem. It is a long shot but you have time services configured and running on each system?

You are right dwg, I have the main MD programme on my PC and the MD app on my iPhone, however, my iPhone has been reset to factory default last week and I am still waiting for a replacement.
My latest reconcile was yesterday, five days after my phone was wiped.

Now that is strange it sounds like the files in your data set have different internal time stamps that those in the syncing (dropbox folder) location.

Given you will need to setup your phone when you get it back I think this may be a good opportunity to fully reset syncing i.e. disable it on your desktop, remove the syncing data from dropbox and to set it up as a new installation when you get the phone back. In the interim you can see if not having syncing on you still have the problem. It would certainly give you a data point if syncing is somehow involved in the issue. Apart from that I cannot think of anything else.
