I am working on a MacPro laptop, version 10.14.2. We have Moneydance version 2017.7.2. I cannot open past files. When I select one, Moneydance simply makes another backup file. We have a backup file list a mile long because we have tried various methods to open a file. Can you help?

I am not support staff, just a user.

The first thing you should do is update to 2017.10(1706) to see if that helps. See https://infinitekind.com/download_2017

If does not help post your Moneydance errlog.txt file

it should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt or:
~/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder, open Finder and select Go -> Go to Folder and and copy and paste in the following:
~/Library This should pull up your local Library folder.

    Hope this helps

Thank you so much for your assistance. We did as you suggested, downloading the newest version, 2019, and that solved the problem.
