After downloading the new version of Moneydance from the App Store, I am unable to import the information from the old application.
I am getting an error "There was an error importing the file "filename": Unknown file type.

Apple support was not able to help me.
How do I get my old information in the new version of Moneydance??
Please help.

I am not support staff, just a user.

I think it would help support staff if you posted the version you were using and the version you are upgrading to.

Also when you upgrade you don't import your data set you just open your existing data set. Use FILE - OPEN or if Moneydance start in the welcome window just select your data set. In either case if your data set is not list use open other to navigate to its location.

    Hello,

In addition to the above information, can you clarify what file you are trying to import? Nothing in the upgrade process should require the use of any of the import functions.

The old version on the Mac was 2010r2 (735). I am upgrading to the version on the Appstore. Not sure what version that is since it is asking me to import "new accounts". I am trying to just use the latest file in the Moneydance directory. It is suffixed with md-2019-01-11. The full name is:
    Moneydance04262010.md-2019-01-11

    Hello,

It looks like you're trying to import one of the older backup files. Try renaming it to remove the 'date' part of the name so it just ends with .md (so it should be Moneydance04262010.md).

That's great to hear! Lots of changes have been made to the Moneydance file structure and location since the 2010 version. You may want to review http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/file-locations-and-changes/default-... so you're clear where your data is now stored.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,
