Latest release (2017.8) does not retain new history for security quotes

I noticed that 2017.8 (1691) will not retain the history for securities when MD is quit, then re-opened. I can get the quotes and exchange rates extension to work for small batches (4 or 5) of securities. The history then appears in security detail, as expected. When I quit MD, and immediately open it, the history reverts back to the prior state, and new data is lost.

I kept a copy of 2017.7.2(1672) and tried the same procedure with it. Now the history values are retained like they should be. It seems that this is a bug in the latest version.

I want to make clear that the loss of data occurs when entering updated stock quotes manually, which is my practice.

I also bought the program through the Apple App store and cannot access the beta.

    Just user,
I'm using the Stock Price entry extension to manually update some securities. I'm on w7 64b MD 1694 and the quotes were retained on open close. Are you manually updating on the MD History itself ?

I am still on 1691 because 1694 is not on the App store. I am updating in the Currency/Security History Window. From this screen pic, you can see I have entered the curent price for Global Wellington, but if I close and reopen, it disappears - note that all my transactions after July 28 except this new one are there.

Correction. All my transactions after July 28 are missing.

I have been using Moneydance for several years and never have had this problem before.

Just a user, but I suggest the following:

Make sure that you have gone into the extensions and update the "Quotes and
Exchange Rates Updater." Don't know why, but If this extension is not
    up-to-date the history is lost.

    Lee,
When I was trying to figure a work around for retaining the stock quotes on build 1681 while waiting on an update, I noticed the stock quote would be retained if I deleted one of the fields like high or low value. I guess that caused MD to force a save. After I did that those quotes were retained even when the value I deleted was updated. You might try that.

Thank you, John and Mike. Mike, your suggestion seems to work. Much appreciated.

I do hope the next update fixes this error.

I have had success using v1020 of the Quotes and Exchange Rates extension with preview version 2017.9(1965) of MD. I'm not sure the version of MD is key here, but I used it anyway. I have a batch of about 75 stocks that updated with no errors, albeit slowly. Still, this is a big step forward from where we were a month ago. It seems that IK is under the constraints of Alphavantage policies. So, if this is the best we can get, then I'll accept it. Thanks Ian, Henry, et al for working thru this issue!
