No backup when quitting?

This is new. Lately I cannot locate my current backup. If I use preferences to specify a new folder, I do get one, but only one new backup at that location (even though I said to keep 5 backups) after that when I quit I see the saving backup message but no new file is created anywhere that I can find. I could keep switching folders, but the automatic process is so much nicer.

Any ideas?

    OS?
    MD Version?
Check the log to see if there is an error during the backup. Either
    Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt
    or
    C:\Users(yourusername).moneydance\errlog.txt

    Thank you for your response.

    OS: MacOS 10.13.4

    Found the log you mentioned:

After re-starting and changing the backup folder I find this:

This backup was successfully saved. I hope this helps. This issue is more of a puzzle than a problem. I wonder what would happen if I went back to the default backup location?

It appears that you have a file permissions problem. Check the ownership and read/write permissions for the files and directories you are saving backups to.

It may be something is weird on the folder Finances.

I returned everything to the default settings and all is back to normal.

I agree that my issue does sound like a file permissions problem and I did check the files and folders involved and I have read/write permission for all. I poked around a bit while re-setting things to the defaults and found some of the missing backups in the Usr/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneyDanceOSX/Data/Documents folder instead of the usr/Documents folder and more in the default /archive/backups folder.

Oh well, at least now I know where everything is and it’s all working fine once again.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Bye for now,
