Downloaded and installed 2017.3 to replace 2015.7 on my iMac. Although slow version seemed to work but now locks up. Does not close (requires force quit) and will not respond to any commands switch screens.

2017.3 is an old release of 2017. Try updating to the latest release build 2017.5(1639) from https://infinitekind.com/download-moneydance-personal-finance-software
If that does not help under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSION if installed uninstall “Moneydance Updater”.
If you still have issues the post your errlog.txt to be found at
Mac OS X Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Yosemite, El Capitan and Sierra -
    /Users//Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/

Mac OS X Snow Leopard -
    /Users//Library/Application Support/Moneydance/

More recent versions of Windows -
    C:\Users.moneydance\

    Older version of Windows -
    C:\Documents and Settings.moneydance\

    Linux -
    /home//.moneydance/

    I hope it helps.

You say there was no error message, was the a errlog.txt file?
What operating system is your computer running?
The preference file can sometimes become corrupt.
With Moneydance shut down try renaming this file from config.dict to config.dict_old.
File location is the same as where the errlog.txt should have been.
Restart Moneydance. The config.dict file will be recreated.
Any preference you have set will have to be set again.

    Hope this helps.

Did you find the path /Users//Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/
were the errlog.txt and config.dict files should be.

Did you rename the config.dict file?

OK, the folder you open using “help” within Moneydance and Show Doc Folder is one folder to far down the chain of folders. Not sure how you do it on a Mac using file finder or whatever its called on a Mac, but you need to go up one level. In that level should be your configuration (preference) file called “config.dict” and the error log file (if one has been created) called “errlog.txt”
Config.dict file is not your data file (data set folder). Don’t do anything with your data file just follow the instruction related to the other two files.

    Hope this helps.

I am not a Mac user I have a windows PC so I think I was misleading you as to the location of the file. Just read in another post
“Mac OS X, it should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder: ~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/config.dict or:
~/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/config.dict If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder, open Finder and select Go>Go to Folder> and type in:
~/Library This should pull up your local Library folder.”

I guess the same thing should work for the errlog, txt file.

    Hope this helps.

I am not support staff, just a user.

At the end of your thread at http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/problems/37957-ver-20173
Use “Browse” button to the right of “attach file” box to navigate to your errlog.txt file.
If you have not set up an account or are not logged in you need to enter your name and email address along with your message and verify you are human. Then post.

    Hope this helps.
