mdsyncinfo.txt repeatedly updated

I use Dropbox to sync Moneydance between my laptop and my phone. I tend to keep Moneydance running on my laptop since I refer to it with some frequency. At times, but not always, Moneydance takes it into its head to update mdsyncinfo.txt once per minute, apparently updating only the like with the timestamp. That causes a notification from Dropbox that the file has changed. Every minute. It's annoying, and I wonder if there is a reason that Moneydance does this, and whether it's really necessary, since it doesn't happen all the time.

Thanks for any answers!

Henry, thanks for keeping after this (admittedly trivial) bug.

An interesting question for me is, "Why is MD actually updating that
file so often, when nothing (other than the timestamp) is actually
    changing? Is that really necessary?"

The latest preview has the added fix and can be downloaded here

    https://infinitekind.com/preview

    build 1659 fix description:
Suppress redundant pushes to mobile sync folder (and the resulting notifications, which alas are a bug that must be fixed on the dropbox side)

    Hi, Henry,

I grabbed the preview yesterday as soon as I got your mail, and so far,
so good. I'll let you know if that changes.

    Thanks for keeping after this!

I had multiple problems with MD yesterday so with the help of MD tech support, I reinstalled MD and was able to reimport all my data files. However, since then I have this annoying bug - which seems to occur every 30 seconds, not every minute. I do not see here how to stop this from happening. Can someone please give me the steps? This only started today after tech support helped me. Something obviously has been changed.

Laurel, try two things. One is get the preview version of MD. This bug was listed as fixed in build 1659 which is later than the last official release.

Second is to turn off Dropbox notifications in the Drop box software.

I’m afraid to change anything in MD or download another version. What do you think?

Laurel, I've been running the preview version for weeks without

Well, I bit the bullet and downloaded and installed the Preview version which is actually now build 1663. So far so good.

Why doesn't Moneydance have "check for updates" in its application?

I can't answer your "Why?" question, but it might not have done you any
good anyway, since this is a preview release, and "Check for Updates"
buttons typically only check for actual releases, and not previews. Not
all, I know, but that's more common, I think.

The build I ended up downloading doesn't say Preview anymore. But I suppose we get emails about updating when an update is officially a new release.

The application doesn't describe itself as a preview, but if you
followed the link suggested by 'sth' in response to your query about
this problem, both the link (which ends in 'preview') and the page the
link points to are clearly labeled preview.

I don't recall getting emails when a new release is available; I follow
the infinite kind blog, so see announcements there.

I just signed up for their newsletter, which is hopefully the blog you mentioned.

I think that blog entries on https://infinitekind.com/blog are also sent as newsletters to subscribers. It would be really nice if the updater extension worked again.
