Selected category in drop down within new transaction is black

When creating a new transaction in my bank or credit card accounts I open up the category drop down but the cursor highlight bar is solid black. I can see all the unelected category names but not the one that is currently selected.

Is there anywhere I can set the colour of this selection bar?

    Hi John,
That sounds odd, and is probably not a color setting issue but a software issue. Could you let me know what version of Moneydance and Java you are using (Look under Moneydance -> About Moneydance or Help -> About Moneydance).
I am wondering i you have an old version of java that is causing this.
    Thanks.

    Hi Jon

I should have mentioned that I run MD on a Mac (Lion) and a Laptop (Win 7) and this only happens on the Windows machine. on the Mac it is the usual blue with white text.

    John,
Well it looks like everything is more or less up to date. I am wondering if you could do two things.
    1. Please send in a screenshot of when this is happening.
    2. Go to Help->Error Console and send in a copy of whats contained in it after you reproduce this bug.
    Thanks.

Screen capture and console as requested. This happens every time.

    Starting Moneydance 2011r2 (803)
    Settings Folder: C:\Users\john.dempsey.EOGB.moneydance
    OS: Windows 7 6.1 x86
    Java: 1.6.0_29 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
netsync extension adding listener for services of type mdncsync.tcp.local.
    netsync: scanning for existing services...
    svc type added: ubd.tcp.local.

I should also add that the category dropdown is the only place it happens. If I select an account in the sidebar or a transaction in an account it is correctly displayed as white lettering on a blue background.

    John,
    How odd....
Well lets just double check, just in case go to File->Preferences and select the color tab. Are any of the options set to black, I didn't think you could change that color but who knows? Although the weird part is the text should change color too...
So I also did some research and I found similar issues in a few old cases, though it seemed like there were several different fixes.
One was to change the windows theme and color scheme, here is a link how to do that: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/282-window-color-appearance-ch...
If that doesn't work, one users video card needed to have anti-aliasing option switched on or off and that fixed a similar problem. But that will be a bit technical so let me know if the above suggestions change anything.

Well I have tried all permutations of Themes, colours, transparancies, anti-aliasing etc and no change. There are no black items in the MD colour settings.

Its very strange. The category is the normal white text on a blue background when selected in a transaction but when you open up the category selector box it turns to black text on a black background for the selected category.

This is on a Dell Precision M6600 with Nvidia Quadro 4000M display adapter. Is anyone else running MD on this machine on Win 7 Ultimate and not getting this behaviour?

I understand there is a bug in the nimbus look and feel on windows.
    Select File->Preferences->General
Set the Look and feel option to Windows.
