Sidebar has incorrect account balance

The sidebar shows a balance for my brokerage accounts. This value differs from the accounts total shown in the portfolio view for that account. It can be a difference of many hundreds of dollars. Looking at the register I do not see any post dated items (ie nothing in yellow). The register agrees to the penny with the on-line statement for those brokerage accounts and it seem that the sidebar is just not accurate and I am not sure where it is pulling that value from.

The sidebar should have the account balance as of the current date. This discrepancy makes me worry. It is $76 plus change in one account and $370 in another. In one account it over states the value and in another it understates it.

As a guess, I am thinking that they are pulling security prices from two different areas. In one it is using the "current" price and one it is using the "historical" price. This is on a sunday where the historical prices should be last friday's and up to date.

    Two things to check:

    • I've noticed that the side bar doesn't immediately update the investment acct totals after changes are made to the acct. Sometimes I either need to move back to the home page or close and open the program to get the side bar to update.

    • Check under Moneydance (File for Windows)> Preferences and under the General tab see what type of balance you selected to display in the side bar (Sidebar Balance Type).

I'll check the preferences tonight, but closing the application and re-opening it seemed to work. But that is odd since those account balances should not have changed during the last session.

There was a discussion about the "Net Worth" view in the header and why that seemed to always be off by a small amount. I can't find the discussion now but that seems to not be resolved either.

I have found that for some reason not every security updates properly at the time I initially run the Q&E extension. I too have found that prices have changed after I thought I had a "final" price for the day (or week as you point out). I think it's a Yahoo quirk based on what I've read from this forum.
