synchronization date for downloaded transactions problem

I have transferred an investment account from Etrade to Fidelity, and found that in order to keep my transaction history and cost basis information intact, the only solution is to rename the etrade account , disable online banking with Etrade, and then re-enable with Fidelity. I will then get some duplicated transactions, which I can clean-up by deleting. Of course, each time I download, the duplicated transactions repeat, but I hope this will stop at some point. Microsoft Money would let transactions be marked as "Void", as I recall, which would prevent the transactions from re-downloading. Apparently there is no way to do this in MD; if I am mistaken please let me know. (This problem with transferring investment accounts IN MD really needs to be fixed, by the way).

My current problem is that each time I download transactions from Fidelity to the renamed account, I get an invalid date range error from MD that says there is a problem communicating with the server. If I "reset sync" in the online banking setup for this account, it will complete the download for this session only, but I will have to reset every time I want to download. Please provide something I can do to avoid this nuisance. See attached screenshot for error message.

    Hi All,

The error you are seeing is due to a regression in Moneydance between 2011r1 and 2011r2. We introduced a bug in the way dates are handled, which we will resolve for the next release of Moneydance. In the meantime, you can work around this bug by simply downgrading to 2011r1, which you can download from our website at: http://moneydance.com/download/2011-791/

I'm sorry for the trouble, and we'll let you know once a fix has been released.

Thanks, seems to have fixed the problem. I will not upgrade further until the problem is fixed. Can I assume that the next upgrade will be safe?

    Hi All,

I believe we may have fixed this issue in Moneydance, but I need folks to test it to be sure. If you're willing, could you please install build 806 of Moneydance 2011 and try your connection again? You can download the daily from our website at: http://moneydance.com/tmp/daily/installers/806/

Hopefully, this build will allow you to connect without the errors.

    Hi All,

I forgot to mention that, in order to test this fix, you'll need to reset your connection to the bank. I'm sending a file called remove_one_service.py that will help do that. Before proceeding, please back up your Moneydance file, just in case something goes wrong. So far, this hasn't caused any problems, but better safe than sorry!

To use the file, first save it to your computer and then follow these steps:

    1) In Moneydance, click on the Extensions Menu and choose the Manage Extensions option.
    2) From the list of available extensions, choose the python scripting interface extension, then click Install to download the extension and finish to complete the installation.
    3) Close the Manage Extensions window.
    4) Again, click the Extensions menu. This time, choose the Python Interface option.
    5) In the python scripting window, click the read from file button and load the file from whereever you saved it. You will be asked to select which connection you want to clear. Choose your bank, and click OK. You'll get a confirmation message when the connection has been removed. Close the window when done.
    6) Set up the connection to your bank like normal. Since all of your settings have been cleared, you should get the most recent connection information for your bank.

I did a clean install of build 8606 on another machine to be sure there was no problem. since my Etrade account had been closed, I was unable to setup online access with them, but when I changed the financial institution to Fidelity I was able to download my Fidelity transactions to this account without the previous error. I am not sure about the duplicated transactions issue (none were noted this time) because I was using a .md file that was a couple of months old. As far as I can tell, my problem was fixed.
