Copy Original Payee to current transaction?
I have a large number of purchases where I now realize that I accepted the "automatic match" for the transaction when I shouldn't have. Each transaction has the order number as the last part of the payee field and is therefore unique. However, Moneydance's matching algorithm caused them to be matched incorrectly, and I allowed it to happen.
When I press the ALT key and hover over the transaction, I see the "original payee", which in my case has the correct order number. However I can't figure out a way to copy that "original payee" back into the current transaction. I can't see a way to copy it to the clipboard, and the "find and replace" extension doesn't seem to support it either.
Is there any automated way to do this?
I have so many of these, that it would be a tedious job to do manually. I also add the item description to the memo field, so if I try and delete and download again, I would lose all those descriptions.

Hi Randy,
Definately not an automated solution but you may be able to retrieve the original payee information by right-clicking the txn and choosing 'Show Transaction Details'. When the window appears stretch it to make it taller so as to see more of the data.

You might also try using the find and replace extension.

@Kevin, thanks.
at least I can cut and paste from the transaction details. That is a lot better than nothing.
@Ben, I don't see any way the find and replace extension can help. If you do, let me know.

Hi Randy,
One other option that might work is the 'Reset Sync' button. Online > Set Up Online Banking > Reset Synch.
This option tells your financial institution to resend everything available on the server. You may end up with duplicates of each txn but it might make copying and pasting easier.
You might want to give this a try on a copy of your data file just in case it doesn't have the expected or desired results.
