Online Bill Payment Error / PNC Bank
I am able to download transactions from my bank with no problem. Since I began using Moneydance a couple of months ago, I have been able to make online bill payments but only after posting the transaction multiple times. For the past week, I have not been able to post any online bill payments with Moneydance. I receive the following errors:
There was an error communicating with your financial
institution. The details of this error are below.
I'm sorry, an error occurred. The details of this error are
below.
Error Description: java.lang.Exception: Server did not acknowledge

followed by:
The error code reported by the server was: 2000
Any help appreciated

Hi,
What version of Moneydance are you using? If you're not using the latest preview version (Build 641), please try updating to that. You can download if from our website.

I am using 2008r4 (640) with Java Version: 1.6.0_14
Java Vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc.
I will download (641) and test.

Build 642 downloaded and installed. Problem remains exactly as described.

I'm having the same problem while trying to do online banking. I'm also running 2008r4 (build 642) and encounter the java.lang.Exception error which jccorbi describes.
Sometimes it will take 15+ attempts to pay a bill online before it's accepted. At other times, I change the date on which the bill will be paid and the online payment is accepted. But this doesn't always work.
This problem has been occurring for me since late 2007. I've been using both Mac OS X Leopard and have upgraded to Snow Leopard. The problem persists. I've used different versions of Moneydance since 2007 and still the problem remains.

Hi jccorbi adn Lextown2,
I'm not sure what's going on, especially since it seems to work intermittently. Would either or both or you be willing to install our debugging extension and send me logs of your attempts to use bill pay? To install the extension:
1) Download the debugging extension from our website at http://moneydance.com/preview/miscdebug.mxt.
2) Select the Extensions->Add Extension menu and select the "From a File" option
3) Select the miscdebug.mxt file downloaded in step 1, and continue to install the extension
4) Select the Extensions->Moneydance Debugging Helper menu. This displays a window that will capture any error messages and OFX messages.
5) Attempt to use Bill Pay. it'd be great if you could log both the failures and successes, but just the failures are fine if you can't get it to go through.
6) Select all of the text in the message window and use command-C (ctrl-C on win/linux) to copy the text
7) Save the text from the message window into a text file and email that file to me at ***@moneydance.com.
The debugging logs that this produces will contain your account information, so please don't post the log to this public forum. To be safe, you should redact any account info in the debug logs. Just replace it with something like "ACCOUNT NUMBER HERE" and it should be fine.
Thanks for your help in troubleshooting this problem. Hopefully we can get it worked out soon.

Hi Jessica.
I have also installed the Moneydance debugging extension and will send
a text file containing any error messages and OFX messages next time I
pay a bill online.
Thank you for your help and I sincerely hope this helps solve the
problem.

Hi Kurt and Joseph,
I received both the logs you sent of successful connection attempts. Joseph, I didn't get your most recent log of a failed attempt. Could you please try emailing it to me directly?
At first, glance, it looks like there might be something funky about the information PNC is sending to us that might be causing Moneydance problems. I'lll talk to my co-workers a bit about it and see if we can puzzle out what's going on. I'll let you know what I find out. If you get any more logs of failed attempts, those would be very helpful.
Thanks for your patience while we figure out this problem!

What was the result of this. I am getting the same problem with Wachovia. Downloads work everytime but 8/10 bill pays do not. Is there solution?
19 Posted by jccorbi on 05 Nov, 2009 11:26 PM
No resolution yet. I've sent log files and other documentation to Jessica Little (Moneydance Support) and she certainly seemed interested in helping but it's been a month or more since I've heard from her. I've found that if I keep clicking on the payment transaction - watching the register while I'm doing it - it does post after a few tries. A pain, but better than nothing.

We don't yet have a solution. It may be something that is out of our hands (the banks server response being the delimiting factor). It is something we've been trying to decipher for awhile so far without success. I apologize for the issue.

I have this same problem. I just spent a couple hours trying to pay a few bills. 3 done 5 not. They will not go through, same error as this chain. WTF? This is a serious issue..... I tried updating MD - it is current. I tried updating Java - it is current. I NEED TO PAY MY BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi open2ningz,
What version of Moneydance are you using? We've made fixes in MD 2010 that should clear this error. If you're not already running Moneydance 2010r2, please upgrade and let me know that solves your Bill Pay error. We've been working on this bug for a while, so we could really use some feedback on whether or not it's fixed in the latest version.

I get the same error and error message described above requesting MoneyDance bill pay via US Bank. Failure is frequent.
I'm using MoneyDance 2008r4(640). I'm not a techie hobbyist, so I don't much enjoy 'challenge'. I'm reluctant to download the 2010 beta for fear of more workflow delays.
I need to get this work out the door efficiently, so I'll dump the MoneyDance bill pay, use my US Bank bill pay, then enter the transactions again into MD after doing same at USB site. It's annoying and not efficient.
Please let me know when MoneyDance has a quick, easy, and reliable fix for Bill Pay.
Thank you,
Vince

You might reconsider - MD 2010 seems to work fine with online banking with PNC

I understand you don't mind the risk and maybe even like fiddling with computer problems. I applaud you.
I, however, have no particular fascination for this kind of technology. I have a job to do. I want it done at the least cost in time and money. I've ridden the "bleeding edge" of technology enough times to know that Murphy was an optimist.
I'll be tickled try MD 2010 once MD say's it is sanitized and ready for prime time. Good luck, thanks for helping MD with 2010.

Sorry to report that the symptom of non-acceptance of a bill pay to PNC still exists. I'm using 2010r2 (735) and it took about six tries to pay a bill just now. It DID finally accept it.
