Historical exchange rates not updated

After installing and running the 'Exchange Rate Downloader' today (2009/04/14), going to Tools-Currency/Exchange Rate and editing US Dollar, only one entry for 2009/04/07 is listed. Base currency is set to Canadian dollar. Why is there an entry for a week ago? Does this extension only get a rate for today to display on the home page? How do you get historical rates into the securities/currencies table? Do you have to add it in manually?

    Hello

The "Exchange Rate Downloader" does only seem to get the current exchange rate. This is a 3rd party extension and I am not sure of its exact functionality. However there is another extension called "Stocks/Forex Quotes Auto Synchronizer" which will record the exchange rate at regular intervals and provide you with a history of the rates.

    Hello Ben,

I also had the extension called the"Stocks/Forex Quotes Auto Synchronizer" installed and updating on file open (& 30 min intervals) as well as "Profit Calculator", "Moneydance Updater" and "Exchange Rate Downloader". I've since removed "Exchange Rate Downloader" but after the stocks were updated by "Stocks/Forex Quotes Auto Synchronizer" , a check of the USD exchange rate table shows no changes.

    Hello again

I have contacted the developer and now have a clearer understanding of the intended functionality of thes extensions. "Stocks/Forex Quotes Auto Synchronizer" and "Exchange Rate Downloader" work in tandom. "Exchange Rate Downloader" does the actual downloading of the currently available numbers from yahoo. And "Stocks/Forex Quotes Auto Synchronizer" invokes "Exchange Rate Downloader" at regular configurable intervals. So both extensions are necessary.

With regard to historical data I cannot verify on my machine that a record of past exchange rates is recored as i have only recently installed the extension. However in consultation with Brian (another member of the support staff) it seems that historical data is only stored for exchange rates on a weekly basis, regardless of the frequency with which you invoke the "Exchange Rate Downloader".

I hope you find this helpful.

    Sincerely Ben Spencer
