Do you export reports to spreadsheet - use Find and Replace extension
I frequently need to export data or reports to a spreadsheet for
further analysis, or to aid creating reports in specific formats
for my non-profit. There are two basic problems with Moneydance's
reports. They are not all on one line, so individual columns in the
spreadsheet don't contain consistent information. Also, Moneydance
isn't consistent in it's use of Description and Memo filed between
split and non-split transactions. Again resulting in spreadsheets
who's individual columns don't contain consistent information. Both
of these problems are solved with the excellent and free extension,
Find and Replace. This extension gives you powerful capabilities to
extract data, based on flexible criteria you specify, and copy the
resulting report to a spreadsheet for further analysis. Reports are
on one line and (by selecting the Splits as Memo's option), both
split and non-split transactions are exported consistently.
Give it a try. And if you like it, drop Kevin, the developer a line
to tell him. He recently added the Splits as Memo's option by
request.

Do you know of any way to get the find and replace extension to show the memo field as a column in its output? I wanted to get have the memo info in the excel sheet also and hoping to use copy and paste from the extension to do that.

Ron,
Find and Replace will export the memo field (select Splits as Memos to get consistent results for transactions with splits) when you click on copy and subsequently paste into a spreadsheet. It doesn't show all the fields in the Find and Replace extension window, but once you copy and paste, they are all there.

David

You're right, worked perfectly. I had also been doing copy with "command C" which doesn't behave the same as the copy button. So all is working well now. Thanks much

Ron,
Odd, command C produces the same result as clicking on the Copy button. In any event, I'm glad it's working for you. I use FInd and Replace very often to get data into spreadsheets. The developer was very responsive to my request to add the Splits as Memos function, which is a big deal for my work.
