Update to Build 790 from 778 - Back to Demo Version
I just updated, by downloading the JAR file, from version 778 to version 790. I restarted MoneyDance and tried to open the OFX file I had just downloaded from my bank. My first attempt to reconcile a transaction resulted in a popup telling me that I was using a demo version and had passed the 100 transaction limit. Luckily I had just renamed the previous JAR file and was able to finish my banking successfully tonight.
I am wondering if this is a problem with the update or did my license, or subscription, expire. I have no problem paying to continue using MoneyDance if that is the case. Though I would much prefer to get an email letting me know instead of suddenly being crippled by an update.
TIA,
Paul

Hi Paul
The free upgrade to Moneydance 2011 is for those who purchased Moneydance 2010. You purchased an earlier version of Moneydance, which entitles you to purchase Moneydance 2011 for $24.99, which is half of the retail price. If you enter your key in the "Test My Key" box here you can purchase the upgrade. You can alternatively revert to Moneydance 2010 if you would prefer.
I apologize for the confusion, and please let me know if I can be of further assistance,
Ben Spencer

Ben,
Thanks for the response. When this happened the first thought to go through my mind was, "Oh, s**t!" The second thought was, "I probably need to pay for the update."
I will happily pay up for the upgrade. The biggest reason for that being the exceptional support that you guys give for the product.
The only complaint I have is that I would have like to have learned about the need to pay for the upgrade before I got that message and had that moment of panic from getting a message while trying to figure out my balances right before paying bills.
Thanks again,
Paul

I am sorry we did not make it clearer that the update was not free. We will make the notification system more obvious in this regard.
