Mac OSx 10.6.7, Moneydance 2011 (790), Java 1.6.0_24.
I have around 8 "Monthly" reminders which I have on Auto Commit and they seem to perform correctly..
However, I have an additional 2 Transaction Reminders that I have on Auto Commit "Every Fourth Friday" and these are giving me endless problems..
One of these went out of sequence recently and no matter what I do I cannot get it to Enter on the specified given day/date.
It has gone "over" by one week (i.e. 5 weeks instead of 4 weeks) and will not allow me to correct it..
I've tried Deleting it several times but it just re-appears in the same error date situation, I tried reducing the period to 3 weeks on one occasion so that this might enter the Reminder on the correct date, however, after the correct entry had been posted I tried to edit the Reminder back to the 4 Week schedule.. but it has a mind of it's own and persists in entering it's own Posting Date.. nothing like I specified....

I maybe dreaming, but this only seems to affect the "Weekly" reminders...

I had this same problem previously when I was running Mac OSx 10.6.6 and the previous version of Moneydance.....

I've tried Deleting the Reminder and Saving the File, I've tried Deleting the Reminder, saving the file, closing down Moneydance and Re-starting................ Nothing seems to correct this problem........
Can anyone offer any help...please...
Ron..

If you set up a transaction reminder with a frequency of every 4th Friday that means every 4th Friday of the month. That is quite a different thing than every 4 weeks. If you want a reminder to occur every 4 weeks you should click on the daily tab in the reminder and set it to occur every 28 days.

Thanks for setting me straight Ben,
Never realized that 4 weeks and 4 Fridays are different time spans, I must be living in some other Universe......

    Hi Ron

I can understand why it is a little confusing. It is not "every 4th Friday" It is "every 4th Friday of the month". This means the transaction will happen once a month on the 4th Friday of that month. Some months have 5 Fridays which is why the 4th Friday of the month is not always 4 weeks from the previous 4th Friday of the month.

Maybe it would be clearer if you looked at a different example. If you check every 1st Friday of the month that would not be every Friday. It would be the first time the day of the week is a Friday in the current month.

    Hi Ben,
OK I see where you're coming from....................
But just so everyone understands my logic,
I receive a payment every 4 weeks ALWAYS on a Friday..... so my logic is.... if I set up a transaction reminder on a Friday to repeat every 4 weeks, it should insert that payment into Moneydance every 4th Friday..........
I just think Moneydance makes a very simple Reminder, VERY confusing and complicated............ but hey... ... I'm not a Programmer, just an old customer ?
Let's hope that's the end of it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Ron.
