I have used MoneyDance for years in Windows but at the moment I am considering moving over to Mac OSx..
For the time being and to try out Mac I am currently Dual Booting Windows 7 and Mac. (not perfect but it works)..
I have been trying to find alternative Personal Finance Software specific to Mac but since I already have a licence for MoneyDance in Windows I thought it better if I tried the Mac version of MoneyDance. (If I'm eventually allowed to move my licence over to Mac ??)
The Mac version downloads OK and appears to "install" OK but when I try to launch MoneyDance for the first time in Mac I get the following error message:-

CANNOT LAUNCH JAVA APPLICATION
Uncaught Exception in Main Method :-
"java.lang.ExceptionInitializerError"

This is obviously a Java problem but it appears to be "installed" correctly and is up to date in Mac.
Anyone have any ideas how to get around this problem, it's got to be simple but I'm afraid my Mac knowledge is less than adequate.

I use "quotes " around installed as I'm not sure if files are installed or just copied in Mac because everything seems to be "drag and Drop" or just Deleted?????

Cheers,
Ron.

Hey guys.. your question about Java got me thinking... No one had asked me to check Java preferences. I went to the Java pref application and its crashing with the exact same error!

At this point leave this in my court. I have an appointment at the Genius Bar at my Apple store for tonight... I think this is their problem at this moment!

Question remains: Did you use Apple's release of Java 6.0 or some third party version of Java?

Well Ken, I have to admit that personally I am somewhat relieved as I was somewhat at a loss about what to try next! Unfortunately, you are still not out of the woods yet. Best of luck and I hope it gets sorted out.
Let us know if there is anything we can help you with regarding this.
    Sincerely,
    Jon Hoover, Moneydance Support
