Online Bill Pay
I just downloaded and installed MD2010 build 748. I cannot seem
to enable online Bill Pay for any accounts. I had no trouble
setting up online banking for these accounts, but when I go into
Set Up Online Bill Payment and go thru the steps required, when it
comes time to choose an account, all options are grayed out. I
click CANCEL and then try it again, but the second time, the menu
option under ONLINE to set up online bill payment is grayed
out.
And yes, the accounts that I am trying to enable for online bill
pay are enabled by the banking institution. I use other online bill
paying services (Quicken Bill Pay) and have no trouble using the
same account there.
Anyone else having this or know the answer?
Thanks.

Hi Robin,
Not all banks support bill payments through their servers, and we are unable to support payments through Quicken's bill pay service. If you let me know what institutions you're using, and can let you know if they support bill pay or not.

Hi Jessica,
I'm trying to enable bill pay thru USAA.
Thanks for any help you can give me. If I can get this enabled, I will be switching away from Quicken Bill Pay and Quicken, which I would love to do!

Hi Robin,
Unfortunately, USAA doesn't support bill pay through their server. If you switch to Moneydance, you'll have to do bill payments through the USAA website.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Please let me know If I can be of any further assistance.

Bummer. Might have to think this through some more. But the longer I use MD, the more I like it!

Actually, in my experience (support their customers, not actually banking with them), USAA seems to have pretty good customer support and actually cares about folks that bank with them. So, it probably wouldn't hurt to contact them and ask if they ever intend to support bill pay through their server. Maybe they're already thought about it and have a good reason for not doing so, but maybe they just need a few more customer requests to convince them to implement it. Never hurts to ask, at least!

I did send a note to USAA. Here is their response:

However, we continually look for ways to improve our products and services so they are of the highest quality for our members, and it is feedback from members, such as yourself, that allows us to achieve the high level of service you have come to expect. Hi,
I'm just getting set up with Moneydance. Do you now support on line bill pay through Quicken Bill Pay or Checkfree?
If not, how about with Alpine Bank in Colorado? Thanks,
Gary

Gary,
We are working on creating the connection with Alpine Bank, and will email you when the connection is complete (generally this takes less than 7-10 business days). I'll respond to the Checkfree/Quicken question on your other thread.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

Angie,
I am progressing slowly with getting things set up.
I was able to enable direct connect for on line banking with my primary bank - FirstbankofColorado. It appears as though Moneydance on line bill pay might be available through them, but I cannot get it set up. What do I have to do?
Also, any further info on Checkfree/Quicken question? I was unable to determine what you meant by my other thread.
We have a 123Rewards card through US Bank and City Market. I am able to import qfx files into it, but could night find a way to set up on line banking.
Ditto with The Mechanics Bank. It looks like I might be able to set these accounts up using the "advanced" option in setting up on line banking but am hesitant to do so without further guidance. Can you help me?
Thanks.
R,
Gary Oleson

Gary,
We haven't yet been able to implement connections to Checkfree/Quicken Bill Pay- Moneydance is currently only able to process online bill payments through banks which support this feature through a direct OFX connection. It's possible we'll implement this feature in the future, but there's no timeline at this point.
We do support connections to The Mechanics Bank (you don't need to use the advanced option), but they do not offer online bill payments. Firstbankofcolorado also does not support online bill payments through direct OFX connections.
It doesn't appear that 123 Rewards supports online banking direct connections, so at this point importing a file (QFX, OFX, OFC, QIF) into Moneydance is the best plan.
I hope this helps a bit, and please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

Angie,
Thanks for the quick response.
In an earlier email you said you were working with Alpine Bank. Will they support on line bill pay? Also, the bigger question is, what banks do at this time? And, is it possible for me to help push 1st Bank in this direction? If so, how?
Thanks.

Gary

Gary,
It appears Alpine Bank does support bill pay through programs such as Moneydance. The other biggies I know of which support this are Bank of America, Chase, and Wells Fargo. If you let me know where you're located I'll get your a more specific list of banks in your general vicinity.
Thanks for trying Moneydance, and we'll let you know when the Alpine Bank connection is ready to go!

Angie,
Thanks so much for all of your help.
Could you walk me through the advanced set up procedures for on line banking and when I would use them? It looks like it is pretty straight forward, however, the caution in the program regarding potential security issues stopped me from experimenting.
Thanks again,
R,
Gary

I've recently downloaded and purchased MD 2011 and though I'd like to say bill pay is working it is not. I'm able to download transactions without a issue but the connection to send bils to Chase Bank is not working. I'm continuing to get the following error:Error Description: java.lang.Exception: Server did not acknowledge payment message.
Any help. I've refreshed and This is what I've gotten:
Bank Name: Chase
The error code reported by the server was: 2000
We were unable to process your request. Please try again later.

Gary,
We now support OFX direct connections with your bank. You can set up a connection to them using our New Connection button in the setup process.
Mark,
The issue you're describing looks like a new problem. It will be much easier to help troubleshoot the issue in a new discussion. Could you please send us an email at support @ moneydance.com describing the problem? Also, if you could include what operating system you are using and your version of Java, that would be great.
