Hi all, well I have just started using and setting up the trial version at present (I will be buying the full version though) and I cannot believe that I haven't come across this app before now..(well actually I do know why - more on that later).

I have used MS Money and Intuit's Quicken before, but always found them to be counter intuitive, cumbersome and quite frankly I got put off them so haven't used a Finance/Budgeting app for years, and as a result I don't really know where all our money is going, but I know we are wasting a lot, so I have been on the lookout for some newer and better apps.

As I know use my iPhone for pretty much everything, I initially went looking for iPhone apps and came across several and initially settled on iBearMoney and then PocketMoney and they were a real pain to use and certainly not intuitive (well not to me....and before you say it, no, I am not thick....hmmmm maybe I am...;-)) plus I realised that I also really needed one that had a desktop equivilant, so the hunt was on again for a search of a desktop app that was both powerful and easy to use (seems like a contradiction in terms doesn't it?)...

So I Google "Best personal finance apps" and straight away, got the the Top Ten Reviews site, with the latest 2012 reviews for Personal Finance Software and the top 2 were Ace Money and Quicken. Quicken was out for me, so I looked at Ace Money and that just didn't appeal, although it was number 1 out of the 10 reviews, but at the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference and of course usability.

I almost NEVER look beyond the top 3, but the Moneydance software name stood out to me, and that is because I had seen that name in the iTunes store in the past. I didn't even look at it on the iTunes store because of its name "Moneydance", I instantly dismissed it as being rubbish because of the name, however now that it was also in the Top Ten Reviews, sitting at number 4, plus it had PC/OSX & iPhone apps, I had to download the trial and see what it was like, as I have an iPhone/MAC & PC, so this covered all bases for me at first look....

I am REALLY REALLY PLEASED I did, as this has to be the easiest, most intuitive finance software I have ever used and it covers pretty much everything I need (well for now at least), so I just wanted to sat=y how happy I am with Moneydance and praise it's developers and ai really hope they CONTINUE DEVELOPMENT of it!!!

The only thing I would change is it's name, but now that I know it is great software that doesnt bother me, but I would have to ask the question that if I was initially put off by the name, how many others have not discovered it for that very reason...?

Cheers

    Hi Rossco,

We have had some internal discussions/debates about the name but, at this point in our history, I doubt we will change it. However, thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you gave us a shot and now enjoy our software!
