Can we get Preferences under Edit, where it is in most apps?
Most applications have Preferences under Edit. Since this is a brand new version of Moneydance, can we get Preferences moved to where most people will expect to see it?

I have created a suggestion ticket to move the preferences menu item. By posting in the discussion you have voted for the ticket.

It seems to be an OS X convention to have the Preferences where they are. So for me, on a Mac, they can stay there.

Yeah, in the Mac version it's in the right place. On the Windows and Linux version Preferences is under File instead of Edit. The Mac version should stay where it is. The Linux and Windows version should move it under Edit.

As far as I can tell there is no standard place for the preferences menu item on windows and Linux there seems to be considerable variation.
Just looking at a variety of applications I have installed I see the preferences under
Tools->Options...
Edit->Preferences...
File->Preferences...
File->Properties...
Window->Preferences...
I am not certain there is a hard and fast rule.

There may not be a hard and fast rule but I happened to look for the preferences item not long before I read this post and I have to say it took me awhile to guess it was under File. If I had to guess I would say that most windows/linux applications have it under Edit or Tools. I don't actually think apps like office 2007 even have a "preferences" menu item.

The two most common places I have seen preferences in Windows apps is under Edit->Preferences or Tools->Options. In Gnome on Linux, I believe the HIG recommends it be under Edit->Preferences. In MacOS prior to OS X, it was almost always under Edit->Preferences.
It's almost never under File->Preferences.
I think Edit->Preferences is the most common place for it between Linux and Windows, so that is why I recommended it there.
