really fast double-click time for registers??

I don't think this is specific to 2011 but that's what I'm using so I"ll post it here:
I've noticed that if I try to select a field in a register entry for editing, I have to double-click really fast, much faster than, say, double-clicking a desktop icon to launch a program or open a file. I pretty much have to double-click as fast as I possibly can. Probably 25% of the time I have to try twice or even three times, I think because I've clicked too slowly. Is this my imagination or is there some internal setting in moneydance or java that causes this? I'm using java 1.6.0_24, and linux mint (based on ubuntu lucid) w/ gnome.

    Hi Zeke

I saw this on some earlier versions of Ubuntu where Java applications do not use the double click time out specified by the mouse preferences. On ubuntu 8.04 the double click speed necessary for Moneydance to edit an existing transaction seems faster than with other applications.

To fix this on ubuntu 8.04 edit /etc/X11/Xresources/x11-common and add the following line: *multiClickTime: 400

Save and then restart X (or restart your computer if thats easier)

The 400 is in milliseconds you may want this number to be larger.

    Sincerely

Thanks, I will see if this can work, but I am using ubuntu 10.04, which isn't what I would call "early".

Let me know if it works. I was not insinuating the 10.04 was early rather that I had seen this problem on earlier versions (such as 8.04) and the the prior solution may still be relevant. I am sorry for the confusion.

Thanks, I hope I didn't sound insulted that you were dissing my ubuntu! I just wanted to point out the version since from my extremely vague and virtually nonexistent storehouse of linux and x server knowledge I seem to recall that newer versions of the x server use some sort of dynamic configuration and that static configuration files weren't used? Anyway when I get a chance to back this up w/ experiment I'll let you know what I find.

After a quick search this seems to be a pretty well-known and current issue w/ multiple versions of java, so I have great hopes the workaround will work!

I don't think my reply got sent!? Anyway, thanks, your workaround was successful. I created the file ~/.Xresources and put the specification for *multiClickTime: 400 in that instead of the global file.
