Hi,

I'm syncing Moneydance on my Windows 10 laptop with Dropbox. I keep getting a notification every few minutes stating that a change has been made to the Moneydance file.

Is it possible to remove the dropbox notifications on my laptop?

Thank you

what version/build of Moneydance are you running, see under HELP - ABOUT MONEYDANCE e.g. 2017.8(1687)

What are you syncing your laptop to and are you using Dropbox Connect or Dropbox Folder.

    Hi,

Thanks so much for you message.

    I’m using version 2017.7.1

I think I’m using dropbox connect. How can I tell for sure?

    Thanks again,

You can check the syncing method under FILE – SYNCING.

You may want to consider using Dropbox folder rather than Dropbox connection it’s a little more flexible in use.

The following is an explanation given by Sean the software developer regarding these two syncing methods, Dropbox Folder and Dropbox Connection.

“With "Dropbox Connection" Moneydance uses the Dropbox API to talk to the Dropbox service directly. So, you don't need to have Dropbox client actually installed on your computer, but you do need to be online when Moneydance is running in order for changes to be synced. With "Drobox Folder" Moneydance will just read and write files to your Dropbox folder on your computer, which means that you need to have Dropbox client installed and running, but you don't need to be online in order for Moneydance to read and write the changes.”

    Turn off Dropbox Notifications.
If you have Dropbox client installed on your computer you should have a Dropbox icon in your tray. Click on it. In the dialog that opens click on the gear wheel then preferences, notifications and untick “New files synced” and “Edit to files”

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Derek,

Thanks for your info. In Windows 10 when you click on the Dropbox folder it takes you right to the dropbox files in file manager. So I Googled and found out how to remove the notifications. When you get a notification, you click on the Windows 10 notification icon on the bottom right corner of the screen and then when you see the notification, right click on the notification and there is an option to stop receiving notifications from dropbox.

Thanks again for all your efforts!!

    Gabriel
